You will try Deep Diving and Navigation plus a variety of 3 more specialty areas of choice before committing to full specialty training. It is a great way to experience what advanced diver training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures. During the Advanced Open Water Diver Program, you will experience 5 different specialties by completing one open water training dive per specialty after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor. By taking this program you will have total freedom to explore. You can complete the full Specialty trainings any time in the future and credit your Advanced Open Water Diver training towards them.

The SSI Independent Diving specialty is designed for experienced divers who want to dive more self-reliantly with a buddy of equal or lesser qualification. This course builds the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to plan and conduct dives without direct supervision from a dive professional. During the program, you’ll focus on advanced dive planning, gas management, navigation, and problem-solving. You’ll also refine your buoyancy, trim, and situational awareness, while learning how to handle potential in-water emergencies independently. A strong emphasis is placed on redundancy and proper use of backup equipment. Upon completion, you’ll be certified as an SSI Independent Diver, allowing you to dive with another qualified independent diver without the need for a professional guide, within the limits of your training and experience.

In this sidemount diving course, you’ll learn all you need to go single or two-cylinder recreational sidemount diving up to a maximum depth of 30 meters or to your certification depth, whichever is deeper. Sidemount diving is already common practice for wreck, mine, and cave divers, but now the benefits are being discovered by more recreational divers. Using online learning, confined and open water dives, the SSI Scuba Diver program is a perfect foundation to become a confident and safe diver. You will learn all you need to scuba dive in open water up to 12 meters deep with an SSI Professional. In this program, you will complete almost half of the Open Water Diver course training and can upgrade your certification easily.
