Active since 2007 in Calabria, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, the Diving Center Megale Hellas, operates throughout the province of Reggio Calabria, in an area naturally predisposed to welcome those who love the sea, the nature, the variety of the landscapes and the richness of archaeological vestiges and ancient traditions. In the territory that was the ancient Magna Grecia - hence the choice of the name "Megale Hellas" - we invite you to discover the hidden secrets of a crystal sea, and along the wide sandy beaches of the Southern Ionian sea, and along the vertical cliffs of the Tyrrhenian "Violet Coast" and in the Strait of Messina, a unique place in the Mediterranean for biodiversity. You can choose from over 20 different dive spots, including well-preserved wrecks of World War II, colored cliffs, large caves and reefs with "forests" of gorgonians, like the mythical Scylla!
The headquarters of the Diving, comfortable and well equipped, is located a few steps from the sea, on the promenade of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica, in the heart of the so-called Jasmine Coast. It has a large reception, a multimedia educational classroom, a full deposit with rental equipment, bathroom, hot shower and a comfortable laudry for washing equipment after diving. Attending a diving course at our Diving Center means to enjoy every comfort, doing all the educational activities immediately at sea, in a limited safe area, but with the fun that only the sea can offer! Choose the course perfect for you, training or specialty! There's a very wide choise: shipwrecks, underwater archeology, marine biology, night dive, nitrox or extended range, for those who want more ...
But Megale Hellas is not only this… It’s a structured center of tourist services for the discovery and knowledge of the territory of the province of Reggio Calabria. We are able to offer all-inclusive tourist services, for divers and not, which include, in addition to courses and scuba diving, guided tours, hiking, trekking and food and wine tours, to discover the natural, architectural and archaeological beauty of this area of Calabria, surrounded by two seas, dominated by the massif of the Aspromonte National Park and inhabited by people characterized by deep and generous hospitality.

★★★★★ La Franata del Castello
Diese Stätte liegt zwischen den Felsklippen rund um die Festung der Burg Ruffo von Scilla und zeichnet sich durch kristallklares Wasser, eine reiche Artenvielfalt und zahlreiche kleine Schluchten und Buchten aus. Um den Erdrutsch, der von der Oberfläche aus etwa 22/25 m tief reicht, liegt eine Fläche aus weißem und leuchtendem Sand.
★★★★☆ Fossa dei Cavallucci
Der Zugang vom Ufer aus ist für diesen einfachen, aber wunderschönen Tauchplatz mit seiner erstaunlichen Artenvielfalt einfach. Der Tauchgang beginnt mit einem Kies- und Sandrutsch, fällt dann allmählich bis auf 12 Meter ab und fällt dann schnell mit einer Neigung von fast 45° auf über 400 Meter Tiefe ab.
★★★★☆ Lo Scoglio Bianco - Saline Joniche
In Saline Joniche, zu dem man von einem breiten Kiesel- und Sandstrand aus Zugang hat, gibt es eine kleine Klippe mit Steilkante aus 8 bis 20 m Höhe, mit einem sandigen Boden und anschließendem von Algen und Schwämmen bewachsenen Felsabbruch. In geringer Tiefe, unter einer kleinen Höhle, befindet sich eine mit Meereslebewesen bedeckte Jesus-Statue.
★★★★☆ Parco Archeologico Sommerso di Kaulon
Dies ist eine untergegangene archäologische Stätte der griechischen Stadt Kaulon. Sie liegt auf einem Boden aus Sand und Kieselsteinen, der zwischen 5 und 7 m tief ist. Es ist möglich, über 200 griechische Architekturelemente und Säulenstücke aus dem 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. zu bewundern.
★★★★☆ Relitto Kingstown / Kingdom
Das Wrack dieses schwedischen Frachtschiffs liegt auf dem sandigen Grund vor der Küste von Guardavalle, wo es am 05. Januar 1993 aufgrund schlechten Wetters bei der Abfahrt aus der Türkei mit einer Ladung Kaolin sank. Es ist heute in zwei Teile zerbrochen.
★★★★☆ Pasubio (Wreck)
Der Dampfer Pasubio, der vor dem Hafen von Roccella Jonica liegt, ist eines der faszinierendsten historischen Wracks des südkalabrischen Ionischen Meeres. Nach einem Abstieg entlang des Seils trifft man auf seine gut erhaltenen Aufbauten in 35 m Tiefe, der Sandboden liegt in 44 m Tiefe. Das Wrack ist leicht zur linken Seite geneigt.
★★★★☆ Relitto di Cannitello - Alvah
Auf einem Meeresboden zwischen 30 und 55 m, an der engsten Stelle der Straße von Messina, liegt das Wrack der Cannitello, bekannt als “U Vapuri“ und identifiziertals das Schiff “Alvah“, das Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts gesunken ist. Der Rumpf liegt kopfüber auf dem Meeresboden, er ist in zwei Teile geteilt und von Leben überzogen!
★★★★☆ Archi - Prateria di Spirografi
Wenn man vom Ufer aus einsteigt, findet man den mit feinem weißen Sand bedeckten Boden, der steil bis auf 40 Meter in die Tiefen der Straße von Messina abfällt. Der Meeresboden, in kristallklarem Wasser, wird von tausenden von großen Röhrenwürmern belebt.
