Narooma erkunden

Narooma liegt an der Ostküste Australiens, in NSW. Das bekannteste Tauchziel in dieser Region ist die 8 km vor der Küste liegende Montague Island.

In Narooma gibt es drei Tauchbasen, die alle eine Vielzahl von Tauchkursen vom Anfänger- bis zum Professional-Level anbieten. Hier gibt es weder Tauchsafaris noch Tauchresorts.

Beim Tauchen in Narooma kannst du unter anderem auf große Fische und Säugetiere treffen. Graue Ammenhaie, Wobbegongs, Rochen und sogar Delfine und Wale werden beim Tauchen gesichtet. Das größte Highlight sind sicherlich die Begegnungen mit Pelzrobben.

Top Narooma Dive Sites

1. Montague Island – Grey Nurse Shark Site

Located off the island’s northern tip, this advanced scuba site is famous for summer sightings of grey nurse sharks hunting in deeper waters. Depths vary, and strong currents may occur. Best for experienced divers seeking thrilling encounters.

2. Montague Island – Seal Colony

This shallow site is ideal for all levels. Playful Australian fur seals interact with divers in clear water over rocky reefs. With excellent visibility and gentle conditions, it’s a must-do and perfect for freedivers and photographers.

3. Montague Island – Boulder Wall

A sloping reef with large rock formations and swim-throughs. Expect schools of fish, rays, and the occasional wobbegong shark. Suitable for intermediate scuba divers. This site showcases rich reef life and dramatic terrain.

4. Montague Island – Sponge Gardens

This colorful reef zone features sponge-covered boulders, nudibranchs, and macro life—ideal for underwater photography. With a depth range of 8–18m, it suits beginner to intermediate scuba divers in calm conditions.

5. Montague Island – South Reef

An exposed site with strong currents, this one is for advanced divers only. Look for pelagic fish, eagle rays, and sharks cruising by. The dramatic underwater topography includes deep ledges and overhangs within a protected marine park zone.
