Utforska Mossel Bay
Mossel Bay är en hamnstad i Västra Kapprovinsen i Sydafrika. Den ligger på samma avstånd från Port Elizabeth i öster och Kapstaden i väster. Området är numera populärt bland turister.
Dykindustrin drar till sig tusentals besökare varje år och det finns gott om dykcenter och dykresorter att välja mellan. Reven här är lugna och färgglada, vilket gör dykkurser populära. Det finns inga liveaboards i Mossel Bay.
Några av höjdpunkterna när man dyker här är grottorna, de fantastiska klippformationerna, vraken och de ljusa, grunda reven. Ett annat populärt tidsfördriv under vattnet är att dyka i bur med vithajar, bara 10 minuters båttur från stranden.

1. Santos Wreck
This site offers a glimpse into maritime history, with the anchor, chain, and mast still visible despite the sand coverage. It supports diverse marine life, including small fish and invertebrates. The dive is easy, suitable for both scuba and freediving, appealing to those interested in wreck exploration.
2. Windvogel Reef
Renowned for its vibrant colors in crevices and the presence of sharks and seals, this site promises an adventurous experience. It's an advanced scuba diving site with strong currents, featuring drop-offs and caves at a max depth of 33m. A dive torch enhances the visibility of its vivid marine life.
3. Sponge Reef
Known for its large sponges and sightings of red romans, this reef is ideal for macro diving enthusiasts. Found between 22 and 25 meters, it offers a moderately challenging scuba dive with a rich variety of small marine creatures.
4. Butterfly Wall
This site, ideal for freediving and scuba, ranges from 4 to 8 meters deep. In summer, tropical fish abound, while colorful corals remain year-round. Divers often spot the rare long nose pipefish and shovel nose crayfish, making it a haven for marine life enthusiasts.
5. Mitch’s Reef
Mitch's Reef is a stunning site perfect for both scuba diving and freediving enthusiasts. It presents a thriving ecosystem hosting various fish species and vibrant coral formations. The dive is of moderate difficulty, offering a rich experience for underwater exploration.
De bästa månaderna att dyka i Mossel Bay
I Mossel Bay är det möjligt att dyka året runt tack vare det milda, halvtorra klimatet. Detta klimat modereras av Agulhasströmmen i söder och Outeniquabergen i norr. Det regnar mer än i andra regioner, men mest på natten.
Under vintern (maj - september) är den genomsnittliga dagstemperaturen 19°C. Sommarmånaderna (oktober - april) har en genomsnittlig dagstemperatur på 26°C. Vattentemperaturen håller sig runt 17°C året runt, så de flesta behöver minst en 7 mm våtdräkt.
