パプアニューギニアの島嶼地域は、本島の東に位置し、ダイビングのホットスポットがいくつかある複数の島を含む。これらの島々はいずれも熱帯のパラダイスアイランドといった雰囲気で、甘美な緑と砂浜がターコイズブルーに輝く海に接し、ダイビングのチャンスも多い。主なダイビングスポットには、ニューブリテン島のキンベ湾とラバウル、ニューアイルランドのカヴィエン、ファザーリーフ、ウィツ島、ブーゲンビル島、マヌス島、ニューハノーバーなどがある。アイランド地方は温暖なダイビング地で、気温は22～32℃、水温は28～29℃である。ダイビングは一年中可能で、火山性海域のため透明度は平均以上である。
この地域でのダイビングは、さまざまな興味を持つダイバーがエキサイティングなものを見たり体験したりすることを意味する。第二次世界大戦の飛行機から漁船まで、さまざまな種類の沈没船をチェックしたり、ソフトコーラル、ハードコーラル、ウミウチワ、ゴルゴニアンなど、さまざまな種類のサンゴが繁茂するサンゴ礁を見たいというダイバーもいるだろう。これらのサンゴ礁に生息する生物は、カモフラージュされたスカシテンジクダイから優雅なウミガメまで幅広い。火山性の地形は、海山、アーチ、水路、急な海壁など、ユニークな岩の形を作り出し、オグロメジロザメをはじめとする多くの種類のサメを引き寄せている。ダイビングスポットは深度下にあるので、様々なレベルのダイバーがアクセスできる。ダイバーは、ライブボードに乗船するか、地元のダイブセンターやダイブリゾートに連絡して、これらのダイブサイトに行くことができる。ここは見逃せないダイビングエリアである！

Top Islands Region Dive Sites
1. Goru Arches
Located in Witsu Island, Goru Arches features two impressive arches encrusted with vibrant sea fans and soft corals. The site offers a colorful dive with easy adventure level, suitable for scuba diving. It's a must-visit for its stunning underwater formations.
2. Susan’s Reef
Found in Kimbe, Susan’s Reef is recognized as the most vibrant and photographed dive site, featuring two large seamounts with stunning pink sea whips and pygmy seahorses. Ideal for easy to advanced scuba diving, it is a visual feast for all divers.
3. George Wreck
In Rabaul, the George Wreck is a Japanese WWII minelayer lying between 12 and 60 meters. It accommodates divers of all levels with abundant marine life inhabiting the wreck. Suitable for both scuba and freediving, it's perfect for historical exploration.
4. Albatross Passage
This narrow channel in Kavieng has strong currents, bringing large pelagic species, sea turtles, and rays. It's for advanced scuba divers seeking adventure and the thrill of drift diving. It's a vibrant passage with abundant marine life.
5. Shaggy Reef
Located in Father's reef, Shaggy Reef is a hotspot to see different shark species, including silvertip and grey reef sharks. Suitable for advanced scuba divers, it offers a thrilling dive experience with a focus on marine life diversity.
6. Der Yang
A Taiwanese fishing boat scuttled in 1988, Der Yang in Kavieng is now encrusted with hard and soft corals, providing a colorful wreck dive. It's an easy to moderate dive site, perfect for scuba divers interested in wreck and coral exploration.
7. Tom, Dick and Harry
These are three reefs in Rabaul connected by a 15-meter deep ridge, each offering unique marine life. A dive here promises a colorful and thrilling experience, suitable for easy scuba diving, showcasing a variety of underwater habitats.
諸島地域でダイビングをするベストシーズン
パプアニューギニアの島々地域は、水温が27°Cから30°Cと、一年中例外的なダイビングコンディションを提供している。この温暖な気候のおかげで、一年を通してダイビングができる。通常、透明度は20～40メートルで、ダイバーに素晴らしい水中景観を提供している。
ダイビングは1年を通して可能であるが、この地域には季節の変動がある。12月から3月は雨季とされ、風が強くなり、時折雨が降り、水面コンディションや視界に影響を与える可能性のある時期である。しかし、これらの要因は一般的に穏やかで、水中環境はほとんど影響を受けず、いつでもダイバーにとって最高の目的地となる。
