Top Koh Yao Yai Dive Sites

1. Koh Bida Nok and Bida Nai

These limestone islets near Koh Phi Phi are rich in marine life, including barracuda, seahorses, reef sharks, and vibrant corals. Suitable for intermediate scuba divers, they feature dramatic walls and swim-throughs. The biodiversity and topography make them standout dive sites in the region.

2. King Cruiser Wreck

This sunken car ferry, lying at about 30m, is encrusted with coral and swarming with lionfish, scorpionfish, and pufferfish. It’s best for advanced scuba divers due to depth and current. The wreck is a highlight for wreck diving enthusiasts and offers superb macro photography opportunities.

3. Shark Point

A marine sanctuary, Shark Point features coral-covered pinnacles and a wealth of reef fish, moray eels, and leopard sharks. Occasionally, whale sharks are spotted. This is an intermediate-level scuba site with excellent visibility and is part of a protected marine zone.

4. Anemone Reef

This underwater pinnacle is blanketed in soft corals and thousands of anemones, attracting clownfish, nudibranchs, and schooling snappers. Leopard sharks are often found nearby. Ideal for intermediate scuba divers, it’s a vibrant dive with a surreal underwater landscape.

5. Koh Doc Mai – Freediving possible

A limestone wall dive with caves and overhangs, Koh Doc Mai is perfect for intermediate scuba and freediving. Expect to see frogfish, pipefish, and colorful macro life. The dramatic vertical drop and quiet ambiance also make it popular for calm, scenic freedives.

ヤオヤイ島は一年を通してダイビングの機会を提供しており、ダイバーにとって最高の目的地となっている。島は熱帯性気候で、水温は27℃から30℃で、ほとんどのコンディションで快適なダイビングができる。ダイビングは一年中可能だが、ベストコンディションは海が穏やかで透明度が最も高くなる11月から4月。5月から10月にかけてのモンスーンシーズンは、降水量が増え、風も強くなるため、流れが強くなり、透明度が低下して、アクセスしにくくなるダイビングポイントもある。しかし、熟練したダイバーであれば、特に保護された島の側で、探索に適したスポットを見つけることができる。
