Top La Manga Dive Sites
1. La Laja
La Laja offers a fascinating mix of marine life and submerged history. Divers can explore rock formations, a canyon, and scattered historical artefacts. Eels, octopus, and small reef fish are common. With depths from 2 to 22 metres, it’s ideal for all scuba levels.
2. El Farallón
El Farallón is a gently sloping reef known for its vibrant fish life. Large schools of bream, wrasse, and other Mediterranean species swirl through the clear water, creating a colorful and dynamic experience. Best suited for beginner to intermediate scuba divers.
3. Cueva de la Grosa (Freediving possible)
This 120-metre-long cave lies just 6 metres deep, making it accessible for both freedivers and beginner scuba divers. Known for its crystal-clear waters, it’s home to scorpionfish, prawns, and other cave-dwelling marine life. Sunlight adds a magical touch to the scenery.
4. Cala Fría (Cabo de Palos Reserve)
Located near the edge of the Cabo de Palos Marine Reserve, Cala Fría features rocky platforms and rich biodiversity. Divers can expect to see nudibranchs, moray eels, and even small rays. It’s an excellent spot for intermediate divers looking for marine variety in a protected zone.
5. Isla Grosa Reef
This reef, near Isla Grosa, features volcanic rock outcrops, sandy bottoms, and lush algae growth. Schools of damselfish, barracuda, and octopus frequent the area. Depths range between 8 and 25 metres, making it suitable for beginner to intermediate scuba divers.
