マルクとして知られるモルッカ諸島は、水温が26°C～29°Cと、一年中例外的なダイビングコンディションを提供している。乾季の5月から11月にかけては、視界が30メートルを超えることもあり、海も穏やかで、生き生きとした海洋生物を探索するのに理想的な時期である。
12月から4月の雨季は、雨や強い風のために視界が悪くなることがあるが、ダイビングに適したコンディションが続く。この時期は潮の流れが激しくなるため、ドリフトダイビングの経験が必要である。これらの要因にもかかわらず、一般的にダイビングは年間を通して可能であり、乾季に最高のコンディションが見られる。
