サーファーズパラダイスは、クイーンズランド州ゴールドコースト市にある海岸沿いの郊外で、高層マンションが立ち並び、広々としたサーフビーチが広がっています。ゴールドコースト海路に近く、海岸線からすぐ沖合には数多くの難破船やサンゴ礁が点在しているため、世界でもこれほどダイビングに適した都市部は他にほとんどありません。オオセ、ウミガメ、マダラトビエイ、オニイトマキエイ、サカタザメなどが周辺の海域を泳ぎ回っています。
サーファーズパラダイスでのダイビングは、ゴールドコーストの複数のダイビングセンターから可能です。 サメと一緒に深海ナイトダイビングを楽しみたい方も、初心者向けのダイビングコースを受講したい方も、 ゴールドコーストでは日帰りツアーが一般的ですが、 宿泊型のクルーズ船でグレートバリアリーフへ出かけたい場合は、 さらに北に位置するケアンズからクルーズ船が出ています。

サーファーズパラダイスでは一年中スクーバダイビングが可能ですが、ゴールドコーストの多くのダイブサイトでは雨天時に視界が悪くなる傾向があります。そのため、1月から12月までの夏季は、他の時期に比べて視界が悪くなることがあります。

1. South Wall Dive Area (Gold Coast Seaway)
This advanced scuba site features strong currents and an eagle ray cleaning station. Divers can encounter rays, trevally, and reef fish. Ideal for drift diving in deeper waters with a dynamic mix of marine life.
2. South West Wall Dive Area (Gold Coast Seaway)
Perfect for beginners, this easy-entry scuba site has gentler currents and high visibility. Expect wrasse, moray eels, and soft corals. Accessible from shore, it's a great introduction to the seaway’s vibrant underwater world.
3. Scottish Prince Wreck
A historic wreck resting in shallow water, the Scottish Prince is suited for intermediate divers. Its encrusted hull is home to crayfish, soft corals, and leopard sharks. Located close to the shore, it's a scenic and accessible wreck dive.
4. Narrowneck Artificial Reef
Just 100m off Narrowneck Beach, this manmade reef attracts octopus, juvenile fish, and rays among thriving seagrass. Great for shallow scuba or freediving. Originally built for erosion control, it now hosts a lively marine ecosystem.
5. Wave Break Island
A sheltered site inside the seaway, ideal for all levels. Spot seahorses, nudibranchs, and schooling fish in calm, clear conditions. Popular for snorkelling, freediving, and scuba training within a protected, easy-access location.
