ティンギ島は、マレーシアのジョホール州のビーチタウン・メルシンから30km沖合に位置する島で、透明度が高く暖かい海に囲まれ、豊富な海洋生物が生息している。ティンギ島を一言で表すと「静けさ」である。そしてここでは、それは水の上にも下にも当てはまる。水上には死火山があり、豊かな緑に覆われ、白い砂浜が周囲を取り囲む、まさに静寂の楽園だ。水中ダイバーはここで12のダイビング・スポットを楽しむことができ、どこもサンゴ礁が繁茂し、生き生きとした海洋生物が生息している。ティンギ島にはダイビングセンターはないが、隣のシブ島にある。

世界のこの地域をこれほど魅力的にしているのは、理想的な気象条件にも関係している。年間を通して温暖で、雨季は12月から2月までの3ヶ月間しかない。水温は27℃～30℃、つまり年間を通して暖かい。視界は10メートルから25メートルの間で、最も視界が悪いのは雨季と1年で最も暖かい8月である。
