エクスプローラー（ウムコマース

ウムコマースは、南アフリカ東部のクワズールー・ナタール州の熱帯海岸線にある静かな町である。この町がダイバーに知られる理由は、数キロ沖合に位置する幻想的なアリワルショールにある。このサンゴ礁は火山性で、多くの種類の魚やサメが生息している。

この小さな町にはたくさんのダイブセンターがあり、その多くがビギナーからダイブプロフェッショナルレベルまでのダイビングコースを提供している。ただし、有名なダイビングスポットの多くは初心者ダイバーには不向きである。ダイビングリゾートでは、ダイビングと宿泊がセットになったお得なプランも提供している。ウムコマースは海況が荒れやすいため、ライブクルージングには向かない。

The Nebo

The Nebo, sunk in 1884, now forms an impressive artificial reef. Divers can observe numerous fish attracted to this site. The adventure level is easy, suitable for scuba diving. It is renowned for its historic significance and serves as a unique dive into history.

The Produce

Since its sinking in 1974, The Produce has transformed into a vibrant coral garden hosting resident morays, leopard rays, and groupers. This site is ideal for easy scuba diving. The flourishing marine life makes it a delightful underwater experience for divers.

The Sardine Run

Between May and July, the Sardine Run offers a thrilling spectacle where millions of sardines become prey to sharks, dolphins, tuna, and seabirds. This event is for advanced divers, with both scuba and freediving options. Its ecological importance is unmatched globally.

The Cathedral

Located on Aliwal Shoal between 19 and 27 meters, The Cathedral features impressive rock formations. It is suitable for advanced scuba diving, offering protection from currents. Divers can encounter various creatures, especially during ragged-tooth mating season.

The Channel

This site includes dark cave sections near the Raggie cave, providing an adventurous dive with sand sharks and stingrays. It's an advanced dive for scuba divers due to its near pitch-black conditions and the presence of intimidating marine life.

ウムコマースでのダイビングのベストシーズン

ウムコマースでのダイビングは、温暖な熱帯性気候のため、年間を通して可能であるが、11月から2月の夏季に人気が高まる。この時期は、気温も水温も最も高くなり、20℃を超えることもある。降水量は多いが、ほとんどが短時間の豪雨で、タイガーシャークやハンマーヘッドはこの時期によく見られる。

冬の間は水温が16℃まで下がり、涼しくなるが、交尾のために浅瀬に大量に集まるゴシキエビを見るチャンスがある。また、1年のうちで最も静かな時期でもあるので、この時期に料金が下がるリゾートもある。
