ジェラルトンをエクスプローラーする
ジェラルトンは西オーストラリア州の港町で、アシカ、イルカ、ジュゴンが待つホウトマンアブロルホス諸島の手つかずのサンゴ礁への玄関口である。122のアブロルホス諸島には、イースター島、ペルサート島、ワラビ島という3つの主要な島があり、周辺海域には歴史的な難破船が多数あることから、総称して「船の墓場」と呼ばれている。ジェラルトンの海岸線近くには、岸からアクセスできる浅瀬のリーフや入り江があり、サウス・トミ・レック・ダイビング（沈船）は、ホウトマン・アブロルホス諸島を除けば、ジェラルトンで最も魅力的なダイビングスポットのひとつである。

Top Geraldton Dive Sites
1. Long Island Dive Trail (Houtman Abrolhos Islands)
This self-guided trail offers easy diving for all levels with vibrant 1,000-year-old coral bommies and staghorn coral. Expect tropical parrotfish, butterflyfish, and temperate species like western rock lobster and baldchin grouper. (Scuba and freediving)
2. Coral Patches Dive Trail (Houtman Abrolhos Islands)
Ideal for beginner to intermediate divers, this trail features sloping coral gardens home to cuttlefish, squid, and reef fish. The terrain makes it perfect for photography and relaxed exploration. (Scuba and freediving)
3. Batavia Wreck
One of Australia’s most famous historic wrecks, the Batavia lies in just 4–6m of water. Divers can explore cannons and anchors among reef life. A must-visit for history buffs and beginner divers alike. (Marine Park protected site)
4. South Tomi Wreck
This 58m ex-pirate fishing vessel now serves as a thriving artificial reef just off Geraldton’s coast. Best for intermediate to advanced scuba divers, it hosts baitfish schools, trevally, and larger predators.
5. Beacon Island Lagoon
A calm, shallow reef dive around Beacon Island, offering encounters with coral trout, crays, and colourful nudibranchs. The sheltered conditions make it ideal for novice scuba divers and snorkelers. Historically linked to the Batavia mutiny.
