Top Somosomo Strait Dive Sites
1. Rainbow Reef
Known for its vibrant coral gardens and diverse marine life, Rainbow Reef offers an easy to advanced scuba diving experience. Divers can encounter colorful fish, soft corals, and occasional reef sharks. It's part of the protected marine park, making it ecologically significant.
2. The Great White Wall
This site is renowned for its stunning wall covered in soft white corals. Advanced divers can explore the dramatic drop-off and spot pelagic species. Scuba diving is the primary activity here, with breathtaking underwater formations to admire.
3. Fish Factory
Ideal for intermediate to advanced scuba divers, Fish Factory is teeming with marine life, including schools of barracuda and trevallies. The site features rocky outcrops and is a great spot for observing diverse fish species in their natural habitat.
4. Cabbage Patch
This site is famous for its unique cabbage coral formations and a variety of reef fish. Suitable for both scuba diving and freediving, it offers an easy adventure level. The lush coral landscape is a highlight for underwater photographers.
5. Annie's Bommie
Perfect for both scuba and freediving, Annie's Bommie presents an easy diving experience with a bommie rising from the ocean floor. Divers can see colorful corals, anemones, and clownfish, with a chance to spot turtles in this ecologically important area.
ソモソモ海峡でのダイビングに最適な月
ソモソモ海峡は、水温が26℃～28℃と、年間を通してダイバーに好条件を提供している。水温が高いため、一年を通して快適なダイビングが楽しめる。視界は通常、15～30m（49～98フィート）あり、ダイバーは生き生きとした海洋生物やサンゴの造形を存分に楽しむことができる。
ダイビングは一年中可能だが、11月から4月にかけては降雨量が増え、時折サイクロンが発生するため、視界や水流に影響が出ることがある。5月から10月にかけては貿易風が吹き、比較的穏やかなコンディションとなるため、最適な水中体験を求める多くのダイバーに好まれるシーズンである。ダイビングを計画する際は、必ず現地の天気予報と現在の状況を確認すること。
