멕시코 콜리마 주는 서해안에 위치하며 150km(93.2마일)에 달하는 해안선을 따라 태평양과 접해 있습니다. 가장 큰 도시는 다이빙 명소인 만사니요이며, 해안에서 약 700km(435마일) 떨어진 곳에 위치한 레비야히헤도 군도 역시 환상적인 다이빙 포인트로 유명하며 콜리마 주에 속해 있습니다.
만사니요에서의 다이빙은 모든 경험 수준의 다이버들에게 적합합니다. 만사니요 만은 잔잔한 지역과 탁 트인 지역이 모두 있어 초보자부터 숙련된 다이버까지 모두에게 흥미로운 다이빙 경험을 선사합니다. 만사니요의 대부분의 다이빙 포인트는 해안과 가깝기 때문에 라이브어보드(숙박형 다이빙 보트)는 흔하지 않습니다. 해안에서 바로 다이빙을 즐길 수 있는 훌륭한 포인트도 있지만, 대부분의 다이버들은 현지 다이빙 샵에서 운영하는 일일 보트 투어를 이용합니다.
전 세계에서 레비야히헤도 군도로 다이빙을 위해 찾아오는 다이버들은 대개 한 가지 목표를 가지고 있습니다. 바로 대형 해양 동물과 함께 수영하는 것입니다. 소코로 섬에서의 다이빙은 혹등고래, 귀상어, 고래, 비단상어, 흰꼬리상어, 갈라파고스상어, 범상어, 돌고래 등 다양한 해양 포유류를 가까이에서 만날 수 있는 특별한 경험을 선사합니다. 거대한 태평양 쥐가오리 또한 주요 볼거리입니다. 하지만 이 섬들은 외딴 곳에 위치해 있어 다이빙은 전용 리브어보드 다이빙 보트를 통해서만 가능합니다.

San Luciano Wreck

콜리마에서 다이빙하기 가장 좋은 달
멕시코의 해안 주 콜리마는 연중 다이빙을 즐길 수 있는 곳으로, 비교적 안정적인 수온을 자랑합니다. 수온은 일반적으로 서늘한 계절에는 24°C(75°F), 따뜻한 계절에는 30°C(86°F)를 유지합니다. 덕분에 계절에 상관없이 다이빙을 즐길 수 있으며, 다이버들은 편안한 경험을 만끽할 수 있습니다. 콜리마 해역의 시야는 일반적으로 10~30m(32.8~98.4피트)로 매우 양호합니다. 하지만 계절 변화에 따라 수온과 시야는 다소 달라질 수 있습니다. 6월부터 10월까지 이어지는 우기에는 퇴적물과 유출수 증가로 시야가 감소할 수 있습니다. 또한 이 시기에는 해류와 바람이 강해져 다이빙 환경에 영향을 줄 수 있습니다. 이러한 변화에도 불구하고 콜리마에서의 다이빙은 연중 내내 가능하며, 최상의 경험을 위해서는 11월부터 5월까지의 건기를 추천합니다.
