할마헤라는 인도네시아 북말루쿠 주에 있는 몰루카 제도에서 가장 큰 섬입니다. 해양에 생명을 불어넣는 인도네시아 해류의 영향을 받는 할마헤라와 주변 섬들은 세계에서 가장 높은 생물 다양성을 자랑합니다. 라자 암팟의 놀라운 다이빙 명소에 가려져 잘 알려지지 않았지만, 할마헤라의 다이빙은 그에 못지않게 다양한 산호와 해양 생물을 제공하여 숨겨진 보석 같은 다이빙 명소로 자리매김하고 있습니다.

할마헤라 섬 중앙 동쪽 해안에 위치한 다이빙 리조트에서 다이버들은 해류가 거의 없는 급경사면에서 동굴과 물고기 떼를 만날 수 있는 곳, 깨끗한 산호로 덮인 경사면과 검은 모래사장, 또는 뾰족한 암초 옆에서 거센 파도를 만끽할 수 있는 곳 등 다양한 다이빙 포인트를 경험할 수 있습니다. 남쪽으로 더 내려가면, 모험을 즐기는 다이버들은 상어들이 우글거리는 강한 해류 속에서 네거티브 엔트리(Negative Entry) 다이빙을 즐길 수 있으며, 운이 좋으면 돌고래와 긴부리고래를 볼 수도 있습니다.

관광객들에게 새롭게 알려진 할마헤라 섬은 섬 내 두 곳의 다이빙 리조트 또는 인근 테르나테의 다이빙 센터에서만 다이빙을 즐길 수 있습니다. 다이빙 리조트까지의 이동이 다소 힘들 수 있기 때문에 최근에는 리브어보드(숙박형 다이빙 보트) 투어가 시작되었으며, 할마헤라에서의 스쿠버 다이빙은 여행의 하이라이트가 될 것입니다.

Airport Reef

Located in Weda Bay, Airport Reef offers a vibrant shallow coral reef teeming with life. Divers can spot the endemic Halmahera walking shark here. It is suitable for both scuba and freediving, with an easy adventure level. This site is ideal for observing corals and various reef fish.

Pasir Putih

Known for the presence of the Halmahera walking shark, Pasir Putih offers a unique diving experience. The site is suitable for both scuba and freediving enthusiasts at an easy-to-moderate level. The area features pristine coral gardens and diverse marine life, with no significant underwater formations.

Shark Mountain

For advanced divers, Shark Mountain offers thrilling encounters with schooling jackfish, barracuda, and sharks. This scuba diving site features deep waters with the shallowest point at 31 meters/102 feet. It is known for its larger marine life and requires a higher skill level.

Elmoos Reef

Elmoos Reef, an atoll-shaped site, features steep walls and numerous caverns. Suitable for advanced scuba divers, it offers depths of 35 meters/115 feet to 45 meters/148 feet. Divers can explore the well-preserved coral formations and caves, rich in diverse marine species.

Foya Wreck

A dive site for the experienced, Foya Wreck is a World War II Japanese shipwreck. The 35-meter-long/115-foot-long wreck is adorned with soft corals and attracts schooling fish. This technical scuba diving site offers a glimpse into history with intriguing marine life.

할마헤라에서 다이빙하기 가장 좋은 달

할마헤라에서는 라이브어보드를 이용한 다이빙이 연중 가능하지만, 다이빙하기 가장 좋은 시기는 10월부터 5월까지이며, 9월도 비교적 괜찮습니다. 7월과 8월에는 강한 남동풍에서 남서풍으로 인해 파도가 거칠어 일부 다이빙 리조트에서는 다이빙을 제공하지 않으므로 이 기간은 피하는 것이 좋습니다. 할마헤라의 우기는 12월부터 3월까지이지만, 이 기간 동안 비가 다이빙에 지장을 주는 경우는 드뭅니다.
