피지에서 세 번째로 큰 섬인 타베우니에서의 스쿠버 다이빙은 반짝이는 색채와 생동감 넘치는 어류로 세계적으로 유명합니다. 타베우니는 피지에서 두 번째로 큰 섬인 바누아 레부 섬의 남동쪽에 위치하며, 소모소모 해협이라는 좁은 해협으로 분리되어 있습니다. 매일 조수가 이 해협을 통해 엄청난 양의 바닷물을 밀어 넣어 풍부한 열대 해양 생물을 번식시키지만, 소모소모 해협과 타베우니의 진정한 매력은 바로 연산호입니다. 붉은색, 분홍색, 노란색, 흰색, 보라색, 주황색, 갈색 등 다양한 색조의 꽃처럼 흔들리는 연산호들이 마치 담요처럼 펼쳐져 타베우니 다이빙에 독특하고 아름다운 풍경을 선사합니다. 이 산호 정원은 반짝이는 바셀렛과 안티아스 떼로 장식되어 있으며, 갯민달팽이와 정원장어부터 산호초 상어와 쥐가오리에 이르기까지 온갖 해양 생물이 서식하고 있습니다.
타베우니 섬은 리조트 기반 다이빙에 최적의 장소로, 소모소모 해협 해안선을 따라 오랜 역사와 높은 명성을 자랑하는 다이빙 리조트들이 자리하고 있습니다. 타베우니 다이빙은 해협 건너편에 위치한 바누아 레부 섬의 몇몇 다이빙 리조트에서도 즐길 수 있습니다. 바누아 레부 섬 남쪽 해안 서쪽에 있는 사부사부 다이빙 센터에서도 소모소모 해협으로 특별 투어를 제공하기도 하지만, 다이빙 포인트까지 이동하는 데 시간이 훨씬 더 오래 걸립니다.

1. Rainbow Reef

Zoo is a top choice for spotting manta rays gliding gracefully across the coral-topped wall. It is an advanced dive suitable for scuba divers. Visitors might also see schools of reef sharks and potato cod. The site's dynamic marine life makes it a must-visit for thrill-seekers.
4. Fish Factory

타베우니에서 다이빙하기 가장 좋은 달
타베우니 섬의 다이빙 성수기는 4월부터 10월까지입니다. 하지만 타베우니에서는 연중 스쿠버 다이빙을 즐길 수 있습니다. 7월부터 9월까지는 무역풍의 영향으로 해수면이 거칠어질 수 있으며, 수온은 22°C까지 떨어질 수 있습니다. 우기는 12월부터 4월까지이며, 짧은 시간 동안 소나기나 천둥번개가 동반되는 경우가 있습니다. 특히 12월부터 2월까지 강수량이 가장 많습니다. 여름철 수온은 30°C까지 올라갈 수 있습니다. 시야는 15m에서 40m 사이이며, 일반적으로 겨울철(6월~8월)에 가장 좋습니다.
쥐가오리는 보통 11월에서 5월 사이에, 바다거북은 10월에서 4월 사이에 자주 목격됩니다.
