Verken Maumere
Maumere, gelegen in het midden van het eiland Flores in Oost-Nusa Tenggara, is een grotendeels onbekende en onbezochte duikbestemming. Omdat het een buurland is van de extreem populaire duiklocaties Bali, Komodo en de Gilis, krijgt Maumere vaak niet de aandacht die het verdient. Met prachtige wandduiken bedekt met gorgonian waaiers zo groot als auto's tot modderduiken waar een aantal inheemse soorten leven, evenals kikkervissen en mimic octopus - Maumere is een bezoek meer dan waard! Zeker als je bedenkt dat er voor de kust allemaal grienden, potvissen en dolfijnen zijn gezien.
Vlieg rechtstreeks van Bali naar Maumere en verblijf in een van de duikresorts of neem dagelijkse trips vanuit de paar duikcentra. HEAD naar Maumere na een duikcursus in Labuan Bajo, om meer van de omringende Flores-wateren te ervaren. Vanwege de afgelegen locatie wordt duiken in Maumere vaak gedaan door liveaboards die de Kleine Soenda-eilanden bereizen.

De beste maanden om te duiken in Maumere
Om het regenseizoen op Flores te vermijden, kun je van april tot en met oktober duiken in Maumere. Potvissen kun je echter het beste zien tijdens het regenseizoen van november tot december, terwijl walvishaaien tussen april en mei worden gespot.
