Top Mossel Bay Dive Sites
1. Santos Wreck
This site offers a glimpse into maritime history, with the anchor, chain, and mast still visible despite the sand coverage. It supports diverse marine life, including small fish and invertebrates. The dive is easy, suitable for both scuba and freediving, appealing to those interested in wreck exploration.
2. Windvogel Reef
Renowned for its vibrant colors in crevices and the presence of sharks and seals, this site promises an adventurous experience. It's an advanced scuba diving site with strong currents, featuring drop-offs and caves at a max depth of 33m. A dive torch enhances the visibility of its vivid marine life.
3. Sponge Reef
Known for its large sponges and sightings of red romans, this reef is ideal for macro diving enthusiasts. Found between 22 and 25 meters, it offers a moderately challenging scuba dive with a rich variety of small marine creatures.
4. Butterfly Wall
This site, ideal for freediving and scuba, ranges from 4 to 8 meters deep. In summer, tropical fish abound, while colorful corals remain year-round. Divers often spot the rare long nose pipefish and shovel nose crayfish, making it a haven for marine life enthusiasts.
5. Mitch’s Reef
Mitch's Reef is a stunning site perfect for both scuba diving and freediving enthusiasts. It presents a thriving ecosystem hosting various fish species and vibrant coral formations. The dive is of moderate difficulty, offering a rich experience for underwater exploration.
Bulan Terbaik untuk Menyelam di Mossel Bay
Penyelaman Mossel Bay dapat dilakukan sepanjang tahun karena iklimnya yang sejuk dan semi-kering. Iklim ini dimoderasi oleh Arus Agulhas di selatan dan Pegunungan Outeniqua di utara. Daerah ini menerima lebih banyak hujan daripada daerah lain, tetapi kebanyakan pada malam hari.
Selama musim dingin (Mei - September), suhu rata-rata siang hari adalah 19°C. Bulan-bulan musim panas (Oktober - April) memiliki suhu harian rata-rata 26°C. Suhu air berada pada kisaran 17°C sepanjang tahun sehingga kebanyakan orang membutuhkan setidaknya wetsuit berukuran 7mm.
