エクスプローラー東ケープ（Explorer Eastern Cape
南アフリカの東ケープ地方には、北部の熱帯サンゴ礁から南部の岩礁に覆われたケルプの森まで、さまざまな沿岸ダイビングスポットがある。ヨハネスブルグやイーストロンドンなどの大都市に集中しているが、海岸線にはダイビングセンターが点在しているため、東ケープ州にはさまざまなダイビングスポットがある。
沿岸には、探検できる沈船がいくつかある。その多くはこの地域に沈んだことが知られているが、正確な場所はまだわかっていない！内陸にはアルティチュード・ダイビング（標高の高い湖）があり、ダイビングの腕をさらに磨きたい人におすすめだ。これらのダイビングは、トレーニングやテクニカルダイビングに人気があり、洞窟やトンネルがある湖もある。
南アフリカの海岸周辺でのダイビングは、通常、経験の浅いダイバーには適していない。大きなうねり、冷たい海水、強い潮流、波打ち際へのエントリーなど、物理的に難しいコンディションになることもある。変な話だが、もっと初心者に優しいダイビングをしたいのであれば、2つの水族館でダイビングができる！
通常、北部は熱帯性気候で、水温は夏の28℃から冬の24℃まである。南部は22℃から16℃前後である。

東ケープでのダイビングのベストシーズン
イースタン・ケープでは、年間を通して多様なダイビングコンディションを楽しむことができるが、季節によってはより恵まれたコンディションになることもある。水温は冬の16℃から夏の24℃前後まであるので、涼しい季節には厚めのウェットスーツをお勧めする。視界は通常5～15mと幅があるが、冬の雨や川の流水で視界が悪くなることがある。
ダイビングは1年を通して可能だが、夏の間は海が穏やかで水温が高く、最高のコンディションになることが多い。しかし、この地域は、特に南西からの強風の影響を受けることがあり、海流をかき乱し、視界を悪くすることがある。冬は気温が下がり、海が荒れるため、ダイビングにはあまり適していない。イースタン・ケープへのダイビング旅行を最大限に楽しむには、計画が鍵となる。

1. Sardine Run
