Isabela es la isla más grande de las Galápagos, la joya de Ecuador. Está situada a horcajadas sobre el ecuador y su base de cinco volcanes activos la convierte en uno de los lugares ecológicamente más fascinantes y volcánicamente más activos del mundo.
En Isabela sólo hay unos pocos centros de buceo y ningún resort de buceo. Éstos ofrecen excursiones a lugares de buceo locales y cursos de buceo previa solicitud. Están situados en ciudades concurridas como Puerto Villamil y algunos ofrecen ofertas de alojamiento. Los cruceros son la mejor forma de bucear en las Galápagos y la mayoría salen de San Cristóbal antes de visitar Isabela.

1. Los Tuneles
Los Tuneles offers an easy diving experience amidst volcanic tunnels, ideal for scuba and snorkeling. Divers can spot eagle rays, turtles, sharks, sea lions, and white-tip sharks in crystal-clear waters. The area is known for its labyrinthine underwater formations and diverse marine life.
2. Cape Marshall
This site is for advanced divers due to strong currents and deep walls, accessible only by liveaboards. Cape Marshall is teeming with marine life, including sunfish, hammerheads, mantas, and schools of fish. The dynamic underwater landscape is a highlight for thrill-seekers.
3. Tortuga Island
Perfect for beginners, this drift dive site offers encounters with sunfish, hammerheads, mantas, and sea lions. Occasional orca sightings add excitement. The dive is primarily scuba, with gentle currents making it an ideal starting point for novice divers.
4. Roca Redonda
Roca Redonda is a technical dive site featuring an underwater volcano with fascinating gas bubbles rising from the seabed. Divers can encounter hammerheads, sea horses, and sea lions. The volcanic activity and unique marine encounters make it an enthralling destination.
5. Elizabeth Bay

Los mejores meses para bucear en Isabela
Aunque puedes bucear durante todo el año en las Galápagos, la época más popular es entre diciembre y junio, cuando las condiciones del mar son más cálidas (alrededor de 25°C) y tranquilas. Es la mejor época para ver mantarrayas y suele haber más tiburones martillo.
De junio a diciembre es la estación seca y el cambio de vientos hace que el agua esté más fría: 22°C. Estas aguas más frías pueden traer consigo unas condiciones oceánicas más duras, pero es la mejor época del año para ver tiburones ballena.
