Potápění v zátoce Mossel Bay je díky mírnému, polosuchému klimatu možné po celý rok. Toto klima je mírněno Agulhaským proudem na jihu a pohořím Outeniqua na severu. Prší zde častěji než v jiných oblastech, ale většinou v noci.
V zimním období (květen - září) je průměrná denní teplota 19 °C. V letních měsících (říjen - duben) je průměrná denní teplota 26 °C. Teplota vody se celoročně pohybuje kolem 17 °C, takže většina lidí bude potřebovat alespoň 7mm neopren.
