1. Uepi Point
Uepi Point is renowned for its vibrant marine life including pelagic species like barracudas and trevally. Divers can often spot grey reefs, whitetip, and blacktip sharks. This site offers an advanced adventure level due to its deep walls and strong currents. It is ideal for scuba diving, featuring dramatic underwater formations and a stunning coral peninsula.
2. Uepi Welcome Jetty
Located near the Uepi Point, this site is perfect for macro photography enthusiasts. Pygmy seahorses can be found here amidst the vibrant coral. The adventure level is moderate, suitable for both scuba diving and freediving. The area is under ecological surveillance due to its rich biodiversity.
3. The Slot
This dive site is known for its sheer drop-offs and clear waters teeming with marine life such as reef sharks and large schools of fish. The adventure level is advanced, making it ideal for experienced scuba divers. The Slot is an underwater passage that provides thrilling drift dives, especially during incoming tides.
4. Charapoana Pass
A unique site featuring a variety of soft corals and vibrant reef life. The pass is frequented by manta rays and eagle rays. Adventure seekers will find it moderately challenging, suitable for both scuba diving and freediving. Its currents attract diverse marine species, making it a dynamic environment.
5. Rainbow Reef
Rainbow Reef is celebrated for its colorful coral gardens and diverse marine life, including turtles and reef fish. It offers an easy adventure level, suitable for beginner scuba divers. The site is part of a protected marine area, emphasizing conservation and ecological importance.
Οι καλύτεροι μήνες για καταδύσεις στο Uepi
Οι καταδύσεις στο Uepi επικρατούν καλές συνθήκες καθ' όλη τη διάρκεια του έτους. Από τον Νοέμβριο έως τον Απρίλιο, τα Νησιά Σολομώντα έχουν την εποχή των μουσώνων, όπου η περιοχή αντιμετωπίζει πιο ανεμώδεις και υγρές συνθήκες. Η ορατότητα φτάνει έως και τα 30 μέτρα/98 πόδια, ενώ η θερμοκρασία του νερού είναι πάντα άνετη και κυμαίνεται μεταξύ 27°C–31°C/81°F–88°F. Η καλύτερη περίοδος για θεάσεις σφυροκέφαλου καρχαρία είναι η περίοδος από τον Ιούνιο έως τον Νοέμβριο.
