Dive Masters Of San Antonio

Dive Masters was founded in 1976 back when San Antonio had over 12 dive shops in town. A lot has changed in the dive community since then, but we continue to pride ourselves on teaching safe, smart divers. In 2022 our former owner, Tom Bartley, passed away. Tom always sought to bring the local dive community together, and to grow this sport that we love. Following him passing, dive staff members Dan Murray and Travis Wentworth took over the business and began running it in 2023. Dan has been diving with Dive-Masters since 1989, and is a retired doctor in Aerospace Medicine. Travis was certified with his dad (and fellow instructor) Gregg Wentworth in 2009, began working at Dive-Masters in 2010 and earned his instructor certification in 2012. Together, Dan and Travis plan to continue Tom’s legacy and that of Dive Masters. Other key people in the Dive Masters Staff family include: Melissa (Dan’s wife), Instructor Jack Harris, Instructor Gregg Wentworth and Divemaster Tim Soderstrom.

Dive Masters of San Antonio continues to pride itself not only on teaching safe, smart divers; but also to help develop strong, highly effective dive leaders in today’s industry. We strive to make Dive Professionals that will continue to grow and strengthen our industry. Starting at the Dive Master Academy, we focus on building a sturdy foundation for our candidates. Following this, they will receive additional Dive Professional training and have the necessary skills experience to complete their ITC with our partner dive shops.

Dive Masters of San Antonio also seeks to help you make informed, smart gear decisions. We take a different approach when it comes to equipment. We sell what we believe in, and will give you our honest opinion. We’re not quick to make a big sale, because we want you to make the decision based on good advice and personal preference. We’re always a phone call or a visit away to any gear questions you may have!

We’ve been doing this thing since 1976, and stand on the shoulders of all the great dive professionals who have come before us. We plan to continue this legacy, and to be there as a dive shop that supports our community, and ultimately our dive family. Welcome to the group!
