Umkomaas on rauhallinen kaupunki trooppisella rannikolla KwaZulu-Natalissa Etelä-Afrikan itäosassa. Sukeltajat tuntevat tämän kaupungin siksi, että muutaman kilometrin päässä rannikosta sijaitsee upea Aliwal Shoal. Riutta on muodostunut tuliperäisesti, ja siellä on monia kala- ja hailajeja.

The Nebo

The Produce
Since its sinking in 1974, The Produce has transformed into a vibrant coral garden hosting resident morays, leopard rays, and groupers. This site is ideal for easy scuba diving. The flourishing marine life makes it a delightful underwater experience for divers.
The Sardine Run
Between May and July, the Sardine Run offers a thrilling spectacle where millions of sardines become prey to sharks, dolphins, tuna, and seabirds. This event is for advanced divers, with both scuba and freediving options. Its ecological importance is unmatched globally.
The Cathedral
Located on Aliwal Shoal between 19 and 27 meters, The Cathedral features impressive rock formations. It is suitable for advanced scuba diving, offering protection from currents. Divers can encounter various creatures, especially during ragged-tooth mating season.
The Channel
This site includes dark cave sections near the Raggie cave, providing an adventurous dive with sand sharks and stingrays. It's an advanced dive for scuba divers due to its near pitch-black conditions and the presence of intimidating marine life.
