Favignana é a maior das Ilhas Egadi (há também Levanzo e Marettimo), que se encontram ao largo da costa da Sicília, perto de Trapani. Estas ilhas italianas são, desde há muito, um destino turístico devido às suas falésias escarpadas, praias imaculadas e águas límpidas de cor cerúleo; até o nome se refere ao vento oeste agradavelmente quente que sopra nas ilhas.
Mergulhar em Favignana é um passatempo popular. Há uma série de centros de mergulho e estâncias de mergulho disponíveis para escolheres. A maioria oferece cursos de mergulho desde os níveis de iniciação até às qualificações profissionais - alguns até oferecem especialidades de mergulho técnico. Existem alguns liveaboards que navegam pela Sicília, mas é mais comum ficares na ilha.
Esta pequena mas animada ilha tem inúmeros pontos de interesse para mergulho. Há grutas para explorar em Cala Rotonda, naufrágios, paredes, cardumes e até relíquias arqueológicas em Levanzo.
