Explore Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island lies within the Great Barrier Reef itself and it goes without saying that the diving is incredible. Found off the coast of Queensland, the famously sparkling cerulean waters hide a wealth of marine life and abundant coral reefs.
The island has several dedicated dive centres and dive resorts. All of these offer diving courses and beginner courses are especially popular due to the high backpacker tourism rates and, of course, the clear, calm waters, manta rays and turtles!
Liveaboards are a very popular option on Hamilton Island. The Whitsundays are the most popular area of Australia for sailing and it’s no wonder why. Divers and non-divers will be captivated by the views, this is one of the best ways to experience this region. Diving highlights include the chance to dive with the entire cast of “Finding Nemo”, including turtles, manta rays and clownfish.
