The course consists of the following sections: Academic material you will receive from the dive center. On your SSI App phone or tablet, you can study on your mySSIApp online whenever YOU have time. You will also need to review questions per chapter with multiple choice options to check your understanding of the topic. A final exam must also be taken with a score of min 80%. You can study the academic course material before arriving in Dahab. Of course, we will review the important parts of the academic material with you once you start the course. The practical part of the course includes 6 confined-water sessions in shallow water. During these training sessions, your instructor will brief you on the skills, explain them and demonstrates them underwater first, then ask each student to repeat the skills one by one. We offer a personalized approach and let you practice each skill until you master every single one. In addition, you will complete 4 open-water dives during the course. With the Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) certification, divers are able to dive with a higher concentration (up to 40%) of oxygen compared to standard air tanks.Why is this beneficial? It means:Longer bottom times. Diving with Nitrox means you absorb less nitrogen which allows you to stay underwater longer as it lengthens your no-decompression limits.Longer repetitive dive times. If undertaking multiple dives in a day, you'll have a longer allowable bottom time on subsequent dives than if you were using air.Shorter surface intervals. Breathing less nitrogen shortens the required “off-gas” time needed between dives which means you can get back in the water quicker.Less fatigue. SSI Advanced Open Water Diver Course The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course is an advanced diving course that builds on the SSI Open Water Diver certification and expands your diving skills through adventure dives. Under the supervision of one of our professional SSI instructors, you will be guided through various training areas. If you are already certified as an SSI Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two more adventure dives to receive the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. We’ll then go to Daedalus, arriving before most others, to take in its deep walls and drop-offs which offer some of the most spectacular diving to be found, before heading down to the exceptionally remote, and usually quiet, Rocky and Zabargad Islands where even many Red Sea veterans cannot boast to have dived. This will bring us up to day six when, while others cram into local onshore bays, we’ll do a full day and night diving program on some offshore reefs as we travel north. This trip is one of our 21+ itineraries, and should offer around 22 dives on proper safari sites by spending six full nights out of port, returning on the morning of day seven just before departure time. And, while there are few certainties in life, we’re pretty sure that by taking a different approach we can give you the best chance of some Southern Solitude. *Please be aware the dive sites and areas mentioned in our itineraries are not guaranteed. This excursion combines diving with a visit to Ras Mohamed National Park on land.Like the explorers of the Sinai in the 70's, we travel to the dive sites by land, but in a more luxurious way than back then, namely with our air-conditioned minibus.PROGRAM:From our dive center or the hotel we start at 8:00 am and reach our first dive site "Shark Observatory" or "Eel Garden" after about 1 hour driving time. Steep wall or canyon, here the experienced divers can enjoy colorful corals and, depending on the season, very large schools of fish.After the dive, we go on a discovery tour and climb the 60-metre-high viewing platform of the Shark Observatory. From up there, we let our eyes wander over the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. We are at the southernmost point of the Sinai Peninsula.We then continue by bus past the salt lake to the mangroves and then reach our second dive site, the canyon in Marsa Bareika. A sandy bay with an easy entrance.We set up camp here and enjoy a barbecue prepared by us after the dive and end the day in a relaxed atmosphere.We will be back at the dive center around 17:00.
