Sha’ab Sheer Soraya

Shaab Sheer Soraya is an elongated reef system near Safaga with multiple plateaus, coral blocks and sandy areas. The reef runs parallel to the coastline and offers varied structures. Usually mild to moderate currents.

Dense corals with reef fish, moray eels and glassfish. In the blue, mackerel and occasionally barracudas can be seen. Sandy areas host blue-spotted rays and macro life.

Shore dive with the minibus. Entrance through a hole in the reeftop. Very jagged reef with coral garden on both sides to about 15m depth.

Shore dive by minibus. Entry through a large hole in the reef top, then through a canyon. On both sides very nice coral garden. Partly rugged reef slopes. A rope helps with entry and exit.

Approx. 90 minutes of travel time. This site can only be approached in calm weather, as there is no protective reef to stop on. Therefore, it is not dived frequently making it pristine and beautiful!

Travel time approx. 90 minutes. This wreck sank in 1991 with many casualties. The Salem Express is 110m long and 18m wide. She lies at a depth of 12-33m.

Cannon Reef is about 90 minutes by boat. The reef is divable in 2 directions, the main reef as well as the south blocks, with depths up to approx. 15m. It is a drift-free dive site.

MACHINE TRANSLATION: Abu Kafan Depth: 6 - 100m / Travel time: 80-90 min.is about 80 minutes outside Of Soma Bay. Roughly translated, Abu Kafan means "father of the abyss". This is a suitable description for this reef. If you dive here, you know why! Abu Kafan can be described as a smaller version of Elphinstone.

Abu Kafan is a long, narrow reef with a large plateau running north to south. Roughly translated, Abu Karan means “father of the deep.“ This steep wall drops vertically to well over the 100 meters deep.

This is a great dive site for all levels of diver with bottom depths from 14- 30m. Be aware that in the channel there can be a little stronger current, making it nearly impossible to get through. Because of this, you can only dive the inside area.

Abu Kafan North Depth: 6 – 100m / Cruising Time: 80-90 min. This site is about 80 minutes outside of Soma Bay. This rest area is popular and frequented by safari boats due to its large, quiet and safe dock. The reef begins only a few inches below the surface and at low tide, the tips of the coral heads break through the surface.

Al Kahfain (Wreck) (★4.5)

At the Al Kahfain you can only stop at the south wind, otherwise, the wreck can only be dived in a one-way dive. You jump off the boat at the wreck and then dive past the wreck, right shoulder over the coral garden, then back to the anchorages on the east side of Shaab Sheer.

Approx. 90-minute boat ride but worth the trip. From 5 to over 40m deep everything available to see. This is a nice dive site for one way drift dives. Many blocks form a kind of fun labyrinth.

Panorama Reef is one of the top dive sites in the Safaga area. The reef formation and location attract all the amazing large marine species that you would expect to see in the deep blue. Two different dives can be done here: north and south Plato. Both dives average 0 to 40m plus in depth.

Short driving time of approx. 25 minutes and can be approached even in strong winds. Shallow reef (max 16m) with great lighting conditions. Apart from the channel, there is little to no current.

About 30 minutes from the coast by boat. The main reef extends to 14m deep. The south side goes to 20m. There is little current but due to its size, it can be a bit windy and is not always approachable when winds are strong.
