The SSI Assistant Instructor program provides candidates with the knowledge and training needed to perform the duties of an Assistant Instructor. These responsibilities include conducting entry‑level scuba training under the supervision of an Open Water Instructor, as well as independently teaching Scuba Skills Updates, Try Scuba, and Perfect Buoyancy programs.At Divers’ Supply Indy, our Assistant Instructor programs are offered twice a year — once in the spring (mid‑April to early May) and once in the fall (September). Oahu’s shipwrecks have unique stories, but they were sunk as artificial reefs. The YO-257 and Sea Tiger are not the only wrecks we have, but they are the biggest and best on our side of the island. Join us for the 12th Annual International Women’s Dive Day on July 18th, 2026! Originally created by PADI, Women’s Dive Day has become an international phenomenon in it’s 12-year history and is celebrated by all. Over the years, this widely celebrated event has brought divers and water enthusiasts together from across the globe to celebrate women’s contributions to the sport of scuba diving, as well as diversity and inclusion in our aquatic world. “EVERYONE is welcome” We will be playing funky beach tunes and making new dive buddies all day. 8:00am – Event Starts We will start the day right off at 8am with Try Scubas and Mermaids! 12:00pm – Cake and snacks provided. Divers and mermaids are welcome to bring snacks to share. 1:00pm – Meet a buddy dives We will have a fun “Meet a buddy” game. Come mix things up, meet a new buddy, and go for a dive. 3:00pm – Dive with the mermaids at the platform! CALLING ALL MERMAIDS! Certified mermaids will have a chance to go for a short swim out to our training platforms for some photos and a chance to say hello! Make sure to wave to the beach goers. 4:00pm – End of Event

You have asked and we have heard you! Indy Dive Center will open for regular recreational diving from 12pm – 6pm on a Friday of every month all season. (Usually the last Friday of every month.) Get to the water and have a little fun before the busy weekend crowds. Regular daily diving admission applies.

Inviting all merfolk! Join us at Indy Dive Center for a “Mermaid Meet Up!” Merfolk will have access to our confined and open water training areas to meet other mermaids, show and “tail” all your new mermaid gear, and make magic! Mermaids will gather to: Meet other mermaids Show and “tail” about your new mermaid gear Go for a guided swim in open water with a certified SSI Mermaid Instructor Mermaids with Open Water Training will also have opportunity to go for some “loggable” swim time (Ocean Mermaid or Advanced Mermaid Certifications required) Opportunities for photos in water, at the water’s edge, and access to the beautiful falls at France Park. (Safety first! Photos at the falls must have attendants or merwranglers to assist) Private access to training areas and platforms for staging gear and in-water activities. (Friends, family, and pets are asked to remain in the main beach area.) Minimum age is 12 years old. Participants must be able to swim (including in their tail), medically fit for open water mermaid activities, and comfortable in deep water Regular gate fees and daily admission apply ($25) Mermaids are asked to complete our digital waiver prior to arrival (same as our scuba diving waiver) Non-certified mermaids will be asked to use a floatation device for in-water activity. Masks and snorkels are required for open water mermaid swimming.
