Ocean First

3015 Bluff Street

CO - United States

Ocean First was founded in 2005 to be an advocate for marine science education and ocean conservation. Being passionate divers and explorers , we recognized little was being done to educate people about our ocean, the importance and fragility of our marine environments, and what we, as both beneficiaries and custodians of these incredible ecosystems, can do to protect and preserve them for future generations.

Our mission is to create and support a community of ocean enthusiasts who are passionate about experiencing and preserving our marine environments. Whether swimming, diving, or experiencing the ocean in their own sublime way, our customers share an infectious passion and excitement that transcends their daily lives. Our love of the ocean is the inspiration for our swim and dive instruction, travel services, marine biology education, and sustainability. Our approach to ocean conservation is simple - we believe a healthy ocean is a healthy planet.

Ocean First is proud to announce we are a certified B Corp™ and in early 2016 joined some of the most forward thinking business leaders in the world who are using business as a force for good. We also helped spearhead the development and rollout of Blue Certified, an eco-certification that recognizes dive operators who are paving the way for sustainable business practices within the dive industry.

Thank you for choosing Ocean First. We look forward to exploring the other 70% of the planet with you!

Jordan, Egypt August 2027

August 1 - 19, 2027 Skill Level: All experience levels Red Sea Aggressor IV Trip Leader: Kathy Gagliardo Join Ocean First on one of our favorite itineraries to stunning Jordan, the Red Sea, and Egypt! This special itinerary will be even more amazing with the viewing of a partial solar eclipse on August 2! Our itinerary includes visiting Amman, the Dead Sea, and amazing Petra. There is also one night spent at a desert camp under the stars! Jordan is a fascinating country rich in history and beautiful archaeological sites. This is one of Ocean First’s signature trips and not to be missed! The Red Sea is considered to be one of the 7 wonders of the underwater world, harboring more than 1000 species of invertebrates and over 200 species of hard and soft coral. The high level of endemic species in the Red Sea is one of the main factors that makes diving in Egypt so interesting. Divers can expect unobstructed opportunities to spot tropical marine life in crystal clear waters, ranging from sharks to dolphins to gorgonian sea fans and feather stars. This charter follows the southern itinerary, following the Egyptian coastline. We continue to Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, and take a sunset cruise of the Nile. There will also be an opportunity for a hot air balloon ride over the Nile for anyone who is interested! Our adventure wraps up in Cairo with tours of the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx and various museums.

Frequently Serviced Dive Sites

Earl C. (#2822510)

★★★★☆ Homestead Crater

The Homestead Crater formed when melting snow on the Wasatch Mountains seeped deep within the earth. Two miles below the surface, the earth’s interior heated the water. As it percolated upward, it picked up minerals, which were then deposited on the surface.

Texas Dive Center, Inc., 79414 Lubbock

★★★★☆ Santa Rosa Blue Hole

This dive site is owned by the City of Santa Rosa and requires a dive permit ($20) obtained on site. In the summer parking is $5 per vehicle. The maximum depth is 81 feet and it is a altitude dive. The water is 63-64 degrees year around so a 7mm is highly recommended but you can manage with a 5mm.

Ocean First Divers, 80301 Boulder

★★★☆☆ Yankee Doodle Lake

Yankee Doodle Lake, at an elevation 10,715 ft., is located in the Roosevelt National Forest in Colorado. The lake is found on the East side of Rollins Pass, along the historic rail route. Guinn Mountain, encircling the lake, was used for mining from the early 1870s.

★★★★★ Ocean First Pool

Ocean First’s indoor pool is kept at a balmy 89ºF and the ambient air temperature within about 10 degrees of that to ensure swimmers and divers are comfortable getting in and out of the water. The pool has both a 4’ shallow end and a large 12’ deep well.

Aqualung

★★★☆☆ Aurora Reservoir

This large reservoir is located southeast of Denver, Colorado. There is a specific scuba diving area open April 1 to October 1 every year, dawn to dusk, that offers shore accessible diving. Maximum depth is 50 feet and average visibility is 5-10 feet.

Mares

★★★★☆ The Saddle - Carter Lake

The Saddle at Carter Lake is a common Open Water training site and a fun dive location. There are plenty of local fish. The gentle slope is great for beginners while the limited visibility offers something for intermediate to advanced divers whether that be Navigation, Search and Recovery, or Night/Limited vis.
