Hotel Das Traunsee (★4.0)

Hotel Das Traunsee has a max depth of 30m. The bank structure is fairly shallow with a steep face. You can find platforms at 5m and 10m. Special features include a VW Bus at 12m. Enter from under the parking lot at the landing stage.

Adventure Diving, 4813 Altmuenster

Sonnstein (★4.3)

This is a deep dive at over 80m. There is a steep face that continuations the small Sonnsteins. There are beautiful overhangs and small grottos. Attention: This dive is only for safe and experienced divers.

Surfcamp (★3.4)

This site descends up to 15m with an interesting, sloping bank. Many eels can be found at night in the overgrown bank area.

Höbarthwand (★4.2)

This dive site has a max depth of 40m. The shore is initially very shallow, then changes to a steep face with shells and sponges. The safest way to find the wall is from the buoy, which is located directly opposite the entrance, about 20m from the shore.

The best Months to dive in Traunsee

Traunsee offers diverse freshwater diving conditions year-round. In winter, water temperatures drop to around 4°C/39°F, with possible ice cover limiting access. Visibility can be excellent, reaching up to 30 meters/98 feet under calm conditions. However, the cold can restrict diving to well-equipped divers.

Spring and fall see temperatures ranging from 10°C–14°C/50°F–57°F, with moderate visibility dependent on rainfall and runoff. Summer offers the best conditions, with water warming to 20°C/68°F and visibility improving as lake activity increases. The absence of ice and warmer temperatures make July and August ideal for diving.
