Starting with the Bligh waters, named after Captain Bligh of The Bounty, this stretch of sea separates Fiji's two main islands of Vanua Levu and Viti Levu. There are a few dive resorts and dive centers dotted around this region, though it’s mostly liveaboard territory. Nutrient-rich waters attract a myriad of species through the channels, that hosts life from the smallest of the small, to the big stuff. The Koro Sea that begins opposite Bligh Waters is also a diving haven, where liveaboards roam.

With this program, you can try a variety of specialties before committing to full specialty programs. It is a great way to experience what advanced diver training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures. During the Advanced Adventurer Program, you will try out 5 different specialties. You will complete one open water training dive per specialty after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor. With this trial program in specialty diving, you will have total freedom to explore. You can complete the full specialty programs any time in the future and credit your Advanced Adventurer training towards them.

Small pinnacle with the top just breaking the surface at low tide & sloping down to 16msw on a muddy bottom. As the name suggests the visibility is low & can be anywhere from 1mtr to 4 or 5mtrs, the top is approx 150/200mtrs in circumference & the bottom approx 400/500mtrs so choose a direction & explore slowly.

MV Ovalau II was a 55m RORO car ferry operating in Fiji waters which sank on 26th August 2003 with no loss of life. She now lays upturned on the seabead in 23msw with 2 large pops being a central focul point. Wreck has lots of debris strewn around inc, toilets, basins, vehicles (cars & trucks), chain etc.

Starting in 3msw this is a beautiful site for a whole range of marine life living or visiting the pinnacle. One side is connected to the main barrier reef, the other has a big drop off to over 40msw, the upper section is covered with brightly coloured soft corals. This site can be dived at anytime.

The best Months to dive in Rakiraki

Rakiraki, located on Fiji's northern coast, offers year-round diving conditions, making it a favorite among divers. Water temperatures are warm throughout the year, ranging from 24°C–28°C/75°F–82°F during the cooler months of May to October, and reaching 28°C–31°C/82°F–88°F from November to April. Visibility typically ranges between 15 meters/49 feet and 40 meters/131 feet, providing excellent conditions for underwater exploration. Diving is possible all year, but the best conditions are generally from May to October when the trade winds are milder, reducing surface currents. The rainy season from November to April sees stronger winds and occasional storms, which can affect visibility and create more challenging conditions. Despite these factors, Rakiraki offers diverse marine life and vibrant coral reefs, making it a worthwhile destination for divers at any time of the year.
