Lom Šífr - Svobodné Heřmanice

The Šífr quarry is located on the outskirts of the small Czech village of Svobodné Heřmanice and is approximately 140 km from Žilina, near the Czech town of Opava. This slate quarry is approximately 500 metres long, 30-70 metres wide and in this relatively small quarry you will find depths of up to 36 metres. Note the quarry is at an altitude of 450 m above sea level.

Probably the biggest attraction here is the flooded diving caisson. There are also other attractions such as a well, a telephone booth and there are several species of fish and crayfish.
