Kreide-See is a well known and popular diving lake. In former times chalk was mined here. The roads, the vibrator, trucks, conveyor belts, and some machines that were needed for the mining can still be visited underwater.
Entry can be reached via the large meadow in the direction of the jetty and takes you directly to the platform at 5 meters. Very good for skill exercises.
Salzgittersee is a beautiful lake with a lot of vegetation and many fish. No entrance fee and no parking fees. For diving you have to walk from the parking lot. At the dive site there is a platform for exercises. The lake is up to 16 m deep in some places.
There are many entrances for divers at Möwen-See. The lake almost always offers very good visibility. The topography underwater is very mountainous so always dive with a compass. The lake has little vegetation. The lake is about about 45 m deep.
The Banter See is a large rectangular 22m deep sailing, diving, surfing and swimming lake. Separated from the North Sea by the Grodendamm embankment, the lake still has a slight salt content today. Ruins, the bow of a harbor barge and blown-up quays can be found on site due to the war.
At the entrance 4B is a slightly sloping shore. At about 8m depth you will find the first car wrecks. If you dive after about 5 minutes over a plateau, you reach a break-off edge, which reaches to approx. 35m depth. Right hand along the edge is the wreck Hemmoor at about 17m.
Just perfect for everything :-) Diving, camping, eating, barbecuing, clear views, good visibility, dogs allowed, playground and much more... we love it there.
The chalk lake, artificially created by opencast mining, has an area of 33 hectares and a maximum depth of 60 meters. Visibility of up to 25 meters is possible under favorable conditions (longer dry periods). Lots of abandoned mining gear and items sunk especially for divers.
From the entrance on the left, a steep wall worth seeing goes down to the bottom of the lake at approx. 55m, a little further on, from 35m downwards, scrawny little trees stand close together, the so-called "male forest". To the right of the entrance is the former fish farm, since 2021 diving is allowed.
