Fresh and clear - experience the most incredible freshwater dive spots

There is so much saltwater to discover, everybody forgets about lakes, rivers caves. Landlocked, freshwater dives offer also surprising and exciting underwater experiences, plus there is no need to rinse your equipment afterwards. From fresh springs, to alp lakes, wild rivers and mysterious quarries, freshwater diving is very diverse and is suitable for beginners as well es pro divers. Some world famous dive spots include the Silfra Fissure in Iceland, the cenotes in Mexico or Grüner See in Austria. Start your freshwater adventure!

Walchensee, Steinbruch (★4.0)

The entrance to this site is located on the southern shore of Lake Walchensee, off the toll road to Jachenau, and can be reached via a small staircase from the parking lot. Underwater you will find rugged rock faces and large underwater rocks (20 to 40 m deep). In the crevices of the rocks you can find large eel rods.

The Grotto (★4.3)

The Grotto is named after the many small caves and large overhangs that form this site. Located on top of the Lonsdale Wall system, this area is teeming with marine life and a photographers dream. This site gradually increases in depth to around 23 metres in a system of interesting rock formations and overhangs.

Erlaufsee Schwabbelland (★3.7)

The Erlaufsee is a mountain lake at the foot of the Gemeindealpe not far from the village of Mitterbach am Erlaufsee. The border between Lower Austria and Styria runs through the lake. The ARGE DiveCard is mandatory.

Cenote Dos Ojos (★4.8)

Dos Ojos is one of, if not THE, most popular cenote in Mexico. Diving cenotes, in general, are for advanced and technical divers. This cenote has two different routes, hence the name Dos Ojos, or two eyes.

Miracle Waters (★3.7)

Miracle Waters was an old Chromium mine that sprang a leak & filled with water. It is now used as a training & recreational site for the greater Gauteng area. It has grids that are off the bottom to alleviate the silt and various objects that have been placed inside.

Lake Ontario Pipeline (★3.9)

Lake Ontario borders Canada and is the 13th largest lake in the world. The water is fairly cold, especially in the winter so you’ll want a thick wetsuit or drysuit for diving here.
