Our logo represents: Manaia represents: The Manaia is a mythical creature in Maori culture. The Manaia represents the balance between the sky, the earth and the sea, always displayed in profile half in the our world half in the spirit world. Its symbol is used as a guardian against evil. Dive flag represents: Incorporated in the word Dive is a conventional dive flag used globally to signal a diver down and any vessels are to keep well clear at slow speed. Sub Aquatic Specialists represents: Dive Aotearoa’s area of expertise and represents our high quality training philosophy. Red represents: Te Whei Ao (coming into being). It symbolizes Papatuanuku, the earth-mother, the sustainer of all living things, both the land and active forces. Black represents: Te Korekore (the realm of potential being). Symbolizing the long darkness from which the earth emerged, as well as signifying Ranginui, the sky father floating above the earth. White represents: Te Ao Marama (the realm of being and light) was created when Rangi and Papa were separated by their children. It symbolizes the physical world, purity, harmony, enlightenment and balance. Aotearoa text in white also represents (the) long white cloud. WHO IS AOTEAROA DIVE Aotearoa Dive is an SSI multi award winning recreational, extended range, SCR, freediving, classified diving and instructor training centre based in Rotorua on the North Island of Aotearoa (New Zealand). We offer entry level “learn to dive“ programs and specialise in advanced, technical, SCR diver training, classified diving and professional career development . We are also Sidemount training experts. Our services also include dive equipment retail and hire, gas cylinder fills/Hydro/Visual testing, SCUBA/Dive equipment servicing and diving equipment consultation. We conduct regular clean up events in our lakes and oceans and have an active dive club - (Ngā Manaia dive club). The HMNZS Canterbury was decommissioned at the end of March 2005 and was scuttled on 3 November 2007 at Deep Water Cove in the Bay of Islands, making for a great artificial reef wreck dive.
Northern Arch is a renowned site that often has large pelagic species and current. The Arch is deep and bottoms out at over 36m, there is interesting structure on either side of the Arch and the Northern side of the Arch keeps sloping away down to 50m+.
Middle Arch is one of the best sites for diving at the Poor Knights. The Arch bottoms out at 18m and slopes down to 30m+ on both the North and South ends of the Arch. There is also an interesting cave with an air pocket near the Southwestern entrance to the Arch.
This arch takes a diver from the western side of the island to the eastern side. Walls outside the arch reach depth of 30m, while the inside of the arch shallows up to just 5m. On the eastern side to the right there is a group of large boulders and a small cave at around 20m.
Southern Arch is an impressively steep archway that towers over 40m above the surface. Its sides are steep and vertical, dropping to just 10m at the northern end and sloping to 40m or more at the southern end of the arch. This dive site can have strong current.
The northern side of Danger Rock drops down to 18m, curving up to a pinnacle at 9m, then drops to depths of 45 and 50m to boulders. This side of the site can have strong current.Towards the western side, two pinnacles rise from 30m, form a narrow canyon which divers can swim through.
Great training site and suitable to dive year round. A sunken dingy at 11m is a good objective for the dive. Lake Rotoma was formed within the Rotoma caldera when lava flows from a large crater explosion blocked its outlet 9,500 years ago.
Great site for training, has some great cliff faces and a circular rock structure made by divers as a reference point. Bottom topography can be silted if disturbed, good buoyancy is a must at this site.
Ti Point is a great beginners dive site! It is an easy site to access with a concrete ramp and wharf that can be used to enter and exit the water.
Good parking, onsite toilets, grass area to set up. Easy shore entry on sand extending for 50mtr off shore leading to a gentle slope extending down to 27mtr+. Water clarity generally good on sand area, some silt on drop off. Easy site to Navigate.
The Rena Wreck is located on the Astrolabe Reef, 12 nautical miles from the entranced of Tauranga Harbour. The wreck lies between 18-70m of water and is only to be dived in calm conditions with swells under 1m. The current can also be strong depending on the tide.
Good parking, onsite toilets, changing rooms, BBQ facilities. Grass area to set up. Easy shore entry on sand/stone extending down to 30mtr+. Water clarity generally good on sand area, some silt on dropoff. Easy site to Navigate. Best wind conditions are less than 8knts and easterly (offshore) direction.

Middle middle is situated in the middle of the middle alderman island. This dive site is one not to be missed. If you are after a very scenic dive this is ideal
Orca Bay is a sheltered bay with a deep wall that drops to 20m+ it then slopes down to 35m+ further into the bay. There are small pinnacles dotted around the bay that provide shelter to a large variety of sea life!
