Mersin is a province which lies in the south of Turkey and it has its coast on the Mediterranean Sea. The capital city has the same name, Mersin, and is a well known port city which has a lot of historical sites which attract a large number of visitors. When it comes to the underwater world, there is also a large amount of history to dive into. The clear waters in this part of the Mediterranean envelop a variety of different kinds of dive sites which combine history and nature, thrill and beauty, excitement and relaxation. The diving season is from April till November. The water temperature in April is around 16°C, with the temperature reaching up to 29°C in the midst of summer. Visibility here ranges between 10 and 30 metres and the currents are mild throughout the year. The waters hold a vast collection of different marine species which create some beautiful underwater colours, while the light streams through the shallow, clear waters. This marine life, which is largely made up of corals and other marine flora, inhabits the wrecks, the reefs, the clusters of rock formations and the historical artefacts scattered on the sea bed. The dive sites here are reached by boat and are all at different distances from Mersin City, but are all guaranteed to provide a great day out and a great day of diving.
