Blockhaus des Gaillouneys
The Gaillouneys blockhouses are an atypical diving site located south of the Dune du Pilat, in the southern pass of the Bay of Arcachon. These are former German fortifications of the Atlantic Wall, built during the Second World War to defend the entrance to the basin.
The site combines military archaeology and biodiversity. The concrete surfaces are colonized by multicolored anemones and sponges, transforming the bunkers into living reefs.
