Entry / Exit off the docks of the Canoe / Rowing Club. Aquatic reeds in the shallows on top of ridge of rock. Slopes off to over 30 meters over muddy bottom. Bad visibility is likely, thermoclines likely especially in summer. Caution is advised diving here.

Lots of aquatic grass reeds in the shallows, occasional freshwater fish. Small schools in the reeds. Occasionally freshwater eels.

The Pump House (★3.4)

Lake Pupuke is a lake on the North Shore. It provides consistent and reliable dive conditions year-round. The Pump House has a rock pad that is around 8m - 10m and provides an opportunity for dive training. Off the pad, the depth drops quickly to 40m+, providing a great opportunity for depth if required.

Waiheke Ferry Terminal Wharf and the surrounding area North of the Wharf. Bad visibility, lots of boat traffic and hazards. This dive is only for experienced divers and only with permission from the harbourmaster. For example, clean up dives only.

Typical Lake Pupuke dive site. Walk down boat ramps from car park. Less sloping than other dive sites on the Lake. Shallow towards the bay to the East, deep towards the lake center.

Wooded Island is a sheltered site that is great for learning to dive or just as a simple dive site. It is a popular site that ranges from 5m - 18m.

Flat Rock (★4.2)

Flat Rock is known for lots of BIG fish, deep canyons and lots of current! The reef itself is very bouldery and has big swim-throughs that can hold lots of fish life. It is a wicked dive but the current can be unexpected and changeable.

Best dived with no wind or easterly swell. Visibility often poor. Be aware of large amount of boat traffic in summer. Depth ranges between 5-22 meters.

Jones Bay is fantastic for learning to dive. It has a sandy sloping bottom with plenty of shellfish. There is also a significant reef structure that provides shelter from the current.

Exposed to easterly swells and southerly winds. Some current away from the rocks. Depth ranges from 5-25 meters. Ideal for boat dive, just a short trip 15 minute trip from Sandspit Marina

Tawharanui Marine Reserve is a great dive site. The reserve stretches from along the surf beach to Takatu Point. It varies in depth with the best diving being in the 10 - 15m mark.

Takatu Point (★4.0)

Takatu Point has a great selection of terrain for all divers. The proximity of Tawharanui Marine Reserve makes the marine life there plentiful. The site slopes from 4m in the shallows to 25m+ further from the headland.

Ti Point is a great beginners dive site! It is an easy site to access with a concrete ramp and wharf that can be used to enter and exit the water.

Mathesons Bay is a sheltered bay that is perfect for diving! Divers can easily enter and exit the water via the beach or over the rock platform if the tide is right.

Wonderview is a fantastic site to dive! The reef structure is very bouldery and is teeming with life. Entries and exits can be a little tricky and be cautious of the steep track. The site itself starts in the shallows and slopes down to the sand at 25m.

Penguin Point is a favourite site for many divers. It has a difficult entry and exit however the dive is well worth the effort. Penguin Point slopes from a couple of meters in the shallows to 25m+ further from the coast.

lots of current on moving tide, best dived around slack tide and good conditions. Advisable to have a good boat person on the surface, this can be a busy area with fishing in summer.

The MUC (Majestic Unicorn Cove) (★4.3)

The MUC is an amazing late afternoon/early evening dive. The cove slopes from shallows to 20m+ on the sand. Be cautions of the steep steps from the carpark!

The Outpost (★4.3)

The Outpost is a great dive site with various attractions. It ranges from a sheltered bay to steep walls that are filled with life. It is best to dive from a boat, however, it is possible to do this as a shore dive with a long surface swim from Leigh.

Leigh Wharf (★3.8)

Leigh wharf is a nice easy shallow dive site but as is the nature of wharf’s there is plenty of boat traffic and fishing paraphernalia to be aware of and cautious about.

Trade Me Reef (★4.6)

This dive site is clearly marked by the cardinal boating marker on the rock. Anchor in the sheltered inlet on the main island in approx 6m depth. Short swim to the island can be made underwater on NW heading. The reef will drop to the bottom at about 11m and a short gap in the reef to the rock on a sand bottom.

Alice A. Leigh /Rewa ShipWreck (★4.2)

This shipwreck is an easy shallow depth wreck with the main body being 6 meters deep, located on the NW part if Moturekareka Island, south of Kawau Island. Current is not an issue, semi sheltered in bay from strong current. Wreck is visible from the surface at both low and high tide.

Tabletop Reef (★4.4)

Tabletop Reef is a beautiful dive site that has quite a range of features the inner part of the reef system features steep bommies that drop down to the sandy bottom at around 10 meters. As you follow the reef North it flattens out to a kelp and sponge garden eventually reaching a sand flat at roughly 20 meters.
