SS Sapona (Wreck)
Concrete ship run aground in the early 1900s, former rum-running vessel, turned USAF practice target, now a bustling artificial reef with a wild history. Shallow (15’) and prone to tidal currents and unpredictable water temperature, best to dive during slack or incoming tide.
Crustaceans of all shapes and sizes, largest porcupine fish you’ll ever see, occasional tarpon along the stern, southern stingrays and yellow rays, needle fish, and nudibranchs.
