Marine sea snails, also known as marine gastropods, are one of the most diverse groups of ocean animals. They inhabit rocky shores, coral reefs, sandy seabeds, and even the deep sea. Their spiral shells provide protection, while a muscular foot allows them to crawl, cling to rocks, or burrow into sand.
Depending on the species, marine sea snails feed on algae, detritus, or other animals using a rasping tongue called a radula. Some, such as cone snails, are highly specialized predators, while others act as important grazers that prevent algae from overwhelming reefs. Together, marine sea snails play a crucial role in maintaining balance and biodiversity in ocean ecosystems.
