Seamound found off the southeast corner of Utila. The top of the mound is at about 10 meters and can drop to 40+ meters depending on which side you are on. Currents can be strong on both the surface and underwater.
Raggedy Cay is a small island off the west end of Utila. There is a flat bottom at about 6 meters under the boat and then, once you reach the wall, it gradually drops off to about 40 meters. This is a wall dive, but tougher to navigate since the mooring is far off the wall.
A south side dive site offering a sandy bottom at about 60ft. The east slopping wall has depths to over 100 ft. The western side is shallower at 60ft.
Head out across the sand to the wall on the other side. Follow it for about 15 minutes and at 18 meters you’ll find a large crack in the rock. It’s about 1.5-2.0 meters wide and about 100 meters long. Perfect turnaround point for your dive.
Moon Hole is a large sandy patch surrounded by coral. This is an excellent site for Buoyancy or Open Water training dives. From Moon Hole, you can cross the coral to Ron’s Wreck.
A very popular site with both divers and students, A large sandy patch running from 15ft all the way to 130ft. A beautiful wall dive for all with lots to see.
An interesting site where the wall itself drops to 70 ft, opening up to stretches of sand. This site is on the northeast side of the Island, about 45 mins from most dive centers. Some interesting swim-throughs and overhangs, which makes for a scenic dive site.
Linda’s Wall is a south-side dive site, not as well know as other dives. The wall here is beautiful and covered with a spectacular rainbow of hard and soft corals. Easy access makes this a great site to visit.
Finishing off Moon Hole toward the west brings us to Ron’s Wreck. Once an old shrimp fishing boat, it is now sitting below the sea at about 60ft (18.28m).
Bando Beach has a mild sloping wall that drops to about 18 meters to the sand. This is a great site in foul weather because it is closer and possibly calmer than other sites. This site is best for new divers but divers of all experience levels can enjoy.
This is a great shore dive. Rough, rocky entry with some surge to contend with. Once in, the dive is full of vibrant coral and sea fans. Max depth is about 18 meters.
Airport Caves Dive Site is located about 10 to 15 minutes from the main dock on Utila.Located on the south side of the Island in front of what used to the old airstrip .
A unique maze-like channel that makes this site special. An average depth of 40ft, the top section of the reef is slightly shallower at 15ft. Past the buoy’s the sandy bottom opens into the deep.
The Pinnacle is situated toward the eastern part of Turtle Harbor on the North side of the island. The top of the reef is at about 15-20ft (4.5m-6m) and if you dive away from the wall you can go explore a couple of interesting shallow channels.
Black Coral Wall is a gently sloping wall with occasional dramatic rock structure. Abundant Black Coral grows here and can be identified as the whispy bushes growing out the side of the rocky structures.
