Gulf Coast Scuba is proud to offer fun, safe SSI SCUBA diving lessons. We are located inside the 610 Loop, in the Greenway Plaza/Upper Kirby neighborhood of Houston just east of the Houston Galleria. Our staff are SSI Award-Winning Instructors with many years of experience teaching SCUBA diving at all levels.

Our instructors are highly qualified as well as some of the most recognized in the SCUBA industry. Gulf Coast Scuba can service ANY regulator currently manufactured and many that are no longer manufactured. We also offer compressed air fills, NITROX fills, and compressed Oxygen fills up to 100%. We have a professionally maintained Bauer Vertecon VTC13-E3 with a charging rate of 13 scfm. It is state of the art and professionally maintained. We offer annual Visual Inspections (VIP) for SCUBA tanks. We offer also offer HYDRO testing for SCUBA tanks. Tank and valve oxygen cleaning is another service we provide.

At the headwaters of the San Marcos River, more than 200 artesian springs bubble up to form Spring Lake. Here, human history stretches back more than 12,000 years to the last ice age and natural history even further. Spring Lake is a jewel for divers.

The Comal River, one of the shortest rivers in the US, is spring fed from the Edwards Aquifer and flows 2.5 miles through the City of New Braunfels, eventually merging with the Guadalupe River. Diving on the Comal River begins just down river from the Wurstfest Grounds and continues to just before the Tube Chute.

The Scuba Ranch, formerly known as Clear Springs Scuba Park, opened in June 15, 2001. We are a family owned and operated recreational scuba facility, and offer a 22 acre spring-fed lake that has one of the most beautiful, natural habitats seen in a fresh-water Texas Lake.

This is a lake available to swimmers, scuba divers and fishermen. People use this lake to train for triathlons and other water activities. There are boats, boat motors, bathtubs, and other items sunken to find while scuba diving.

This dive sites offers dives for many types of divers. There are a few platforms at various depths as well as various objects to see like a camper, airplane and boats. Attractions can be reached by a guide line off of the suspended platforms.

Stetson Bank, located at the westernmost end of the sanctuary, is an oblong, mid-shelf bank made of uplifted siltstone and claystone. It was added to the sanctuary when Congress reauthorized the National Marine Sanctuaries Act in 1996.

The Kraken wreck is located 58 nautical miles off Galveston, TX into the Gulf of Mexico. On January 20, 2017 Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Ship-to-Reef program successfully sunk the 371-foot cargo vessel. The reef site, designated as HI-A-424, encompasses an area of 80 acres to explore beyond the immediate feature.

The Texas Clipper is a 473 foot long artificial reef that was sunk in 2007. The location of The Clipper is 17 miles off the coast of South Padre Island in approximately 136 feet of water. The wreck lies on her port side and comes up to 70 feet below the surface.

★★★★☆ Comal River, Landa Park, New Braunfels, Texas

The Comal River, at only 2.5 miles, is one of the shortest rivers in the US. It is spring fed from the Edwards Aquifer and feeds into the Guadalupe River. Diving and swimming is not allowed in Landa Lake and the Comal River immediately below the lake because of the presence of the endangered species.

Located a few dams down from the Upper Comal River, the Lower Comal has a faster current and slightly deeper depths along the river bends. Put in location is underneath the Garden St. bridge, and the river will bend twice before getting out at the last public exit (before the Comal hits the Guadalupe River).
