★★★★☆ Catrapona

Catrapona is a popular spot for both recreational and technical divers in the Sesimbra area. It is located north of Cabo Espichel and, thus, exposed to prevalent waves and winds that normally hit the Portuguese occidental coast all year round.

This spot consists of a large rock with a slit that crosses it giving the sensation of being 2 separate rocks.It is possible to pass underneath from one side to the other because there is an opening in the form of an arc.

★★★★☆ Ponta da Passagem

This is one of the most amazing and versatile spots in Sesimbra. There is a big canyon that has walls full of colorful life, like yellow sponges, nudibranchs, and anemones.

★★★★☆ Arcanzil

Arcanzil is a rock formation located a few tens of meters south of the coast of Sesimbra, near Cape Espichel. It rises from the bottom (located at 15m) to the surface. It is rare for the top of the stone get completely submerged.

★★★★☆ Pedra do Leão

This site is home to a stone that looks like a lion. The diving is done next to its wall. There is a wide underneath passage that crosses through the rock. Around it, you can find smaller rocks covered with algae.

Set in a small bay by the shore, this spot (translated into English: Armação Bay) is a favourite because of its existing biodiversity.it is possible to dive here all year round because it is protected by high cliffs.

Because it resembles an intricate maze, this dive is a real challenge for the more adventurous. A large number of holes with and without exit, raising the adrenaline to all who visit them.

★★★★☆ Pedra da Malha

This site consists of several rock formations that develop parallel to the coast, some creeks and others of larger dimensions, among which it is possible to observe a great diversity of marine life.

★★★★☆ Forte da Baralha

Rock formation located a few meters south of the coast of Sesimbra, near Cape Espichel. It rises from the bottom (located at 15m) to the surface. It is rare that the top of the stone gets completely submerged.

★★★★☆ Jardim das Gorgónias

This spot is one of the most popular in the area, only because of its easy orientation and the diversity of life. The most common course is to keep the rock on your left side and circle around it, taking into account that the north side of the rock is less deep, allowing for a long dive.

Area of rock formations on a sandy bottom with a lot of relief, it is a spot full of life and when conditions are favourable it is an excellent dive.

This dive site is an extensive rocky bottom area that lies at about 1.5 km west of Cape Espichel. Depth varies between 34-42m. Due to its location, the existence of strong currents is common.

★★★★☆ Batelão

A small shipwreck of the barge that transported the stones appears in the construction of the new point of the harbor of Sesimbra.It is split in two but despite its small dimensions it is a very pleasant place for divers who are beginners or with less experience.

★★★★☆ Paredes do Cabo

The “Cable Walls“ are located next to the Cabo Espichel cliff. The depth is about 12-15m and what makes it special are the traces of the River Gurara wreck which can be found. The stern part is about 100m to the south.

Baleeira is a bay with a small beach of rolled stones. This site is very good for beginners and for try dives. Even though most access this site from a boat, you can stay on the beach and start your dive from there as well.
