TX - USA

Our owner and Director of Training starting diving in Maine with a YMCA diver certification card In 1973 while serving in law enforcement after returning from Viet Nam in 1968 with the USMC. Mostly diving for scallops from November to March, he supplemented this search for food by being available as a diver to local First Responder units to do search and recovery. He is a Instructor Trainer for Scuba Schools International. John is a Platinum Pro 5000 Instructor, having reached the top of recognition for diving instructors. He is a Underwater Criminal Investigator and Public Safety Diver Instructor, having worked in law enforcement for many years. He is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and therefor has a special connection to his military customers as well as those in law enforcement. His wife of 54+ years (Torill) is a SSI Assistant Instructor and together they “dive the world.“ We also should mention that we work with the VA to train veterans in scuba at all levels.

Texas Dive Center, Inc is a disabled divers training center and we train the best divers and work with them to become the best Instructors or anything in between that they wish to accomplish. One such diver is a lady John trained from open water diver to open water instructor. Today she is a SSI XR International Training Director and owns Tank’Pro Dive Center on Utila. We like to think she got her passion for teaching from John. Being a competent diver is achieved through training, experience, and comfort through repetition. We believe there are no limitations to diving and we can train and certify most disabled to enjoy the sport within their limits. No one should be confined to a disability. As a PSI Premier Facility, we are dedicated to taking the best care of your dive equipment and offer a full range of equipment services by our expert technicians. Whether you are getting into scuba diving for fun or on the road to being a professional - we are here to help make it happen.

At Texas Dive Center we offer MARES, SCUBA PRO, TUSA, Hollis, Atomic, Bare, Seagle, Oceanic, Suunto, Waterproof, Henderson, Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) and other quality brands of equipment. More importantly we service and repair what we sell with Expert Technicians ready to help you maintain your dive equipment. Our dive shop does your scuba tank annual inspection and 5 yr hydro-testing “in-house.“ No other dive shop in the region does it all like Texas Dive Center. We will help you maintain your life support diving gear to top condition under manufacturer’s standards. Our owner is a ScubaPro Master Technician and factory trained in Mares, TUSA, Oceanic, and Ocean Technology Systems Guardian Full Face Masks as well.

Get your kids into our SSI Explorer Program where your children can enjoy the excitement of snorkeling and scuba with this special program with log books, and levels of advancement. Check out our web page for more information or come visit us in the store. In the SSI Explorer program they will learn about our Blue Oceans and the need for it’s protection.
