Explore Cabarete

Cabarete is located along the northern coast of the Dominican Republic in the Puerto Plata province, where its silky beaches and crystal-clear waters continue to woo travellers year after year. As a diving destination, Cabarete offers everything for all skill levels. Beginners will relish the abundant marine life that thrives on the expansive reef in the bay, all in shallow, calm waters. Experienced divers can delve into wrecks, caves and walls, and be immersed by abyssal beauty in deeper depths.

There are various beaches all around Cabarete, where diving can be enjoyed by first-timers and seasoned divers. The main reefs are Cabarete Bay, Kite Beach, and Encuentro, all of which are only within a few minutes of each other.

There are plentiful dive centers and dive resorts in the area, and a few liveaboards also visit the best dive sites in the region. Many dive operators head to the protected waters of Sosua, where there is less wind and waves to disturb ocean conditions, allowing for sublime, calm waters in impeccably clean sea. Fishing is banned, which has allowed marine species to flourish, and what’s more, divers can check out the coral rejuvenation project

Scuba diving in Cabarete isn’t all about what you see. From January until March, divers can listen to the songs of the humpback whales that pass to and from their mating grounds. The Dominican Republic is hosts two of these breeding areas, and there are only a few known throughout the world.
