While scuba diving, divers can discover deep walls adorned with sponges and coral or shallow reefs, teeming with fish and perfect for novice divers taking part in dive courses, such as the beautiful soft coral reef known as Disney Land. The Ordo Verde Wreck and USS Kittiwake offer world-class wreck diving while in George Town’s walls, are swim-throughs, caverns, and tunnels such as at Little Tunnels and Trinity Caves dive sites. Many of the sites close to George Town are accessible via boat or from piers where you can enter by diving ladders.
The usual Cayman critters are all present when scuba diving in George Town. Tarpon, parrotfish, barracuda, and schools of silversides all dominate the dive sites while southern stingray and spotted eagle ray can be seen in sandy flats searching for their next meal. White-tip reef sharks are often seen patrolling deep wall sites as the green turtle and hawksbill turtle lazily make their way up to the surface for a breath of fresh air.
