Marmaris is a resort town which lies in the Muğla Region, on the south west, Mediterranean coast of Turkey. This town is known for its turquoise waters, pebbly beaches and its bustling nightlife. There are multiple dive centres in Marmaris which have experienced guides to take divers to the best diving spots in the region. Top Marmaris Dive Sites

1. Goat Island Lighthouse

Divers can explore a mix of marine life and historical amphorae, starting at 8 meters and descending to 38 meters. This site is ideal for advanced divers due to its depth and underwater current conditions. Suitable for scuba diving, it features unique historical artifacts.

2. Baca Cave

This chimney-shaped cave offers depths from 5 to 50 meters and is accessible to divers of all levels, making it an ideal spot for both scuba diving and beginners. The site is renowned for its abundant marine life and stunning underwater formations.

3. Kardiga Cove

Kardiga Cove offers a journey through history with depths from 0 to 40 meters. It features rocky topography, hundreds of historical amphorae, and remains of a Hellenistic Age wreck, attracting advanced scuba divers interested in underwater archaeology.

4. Hayitli Cape

Perfect for novice divers and dive courses, Hayitli Cape provides calm water conditions with a rocky bottom at various depths. This site is primarily for scuba diving and is known for its suitability for beginners due to the tranquil environment.

5. Paradise Island Bay (Freediving possible)

This site offers vibrant marine life and clear waters perfect for both scuba and freediving. With depths ranging from 5 to 30 meters, it suits divers of all skill levels. It is known for its easy accessibility and pristine underwater views.

The best Months to Dive in Marmaris

The diving season in this region is usually from April till November as these are the months with the best water conditions. The winter months are wetter and windier. The water temperature in April is around 18°C, with the temperature reaching up to 31°C in the midst of summer. Visibility here ranges between 10 and 30 metres, this region is known for its clear waters and also for its calm waters so the currents here are very mild throughout the year.

The dive sites here hold a high abundance of marine life. Some of the species which are here in high abundance include Moray Eels, who like to inhabit the many amphorae, Octopus and Groupers. Other species spotted here include different species of Rays, Jacks, Shrimp, Cardinal Fish, Sea Bream, Sea Rabbits, Blacktail, Lobsters, Crabs, vibrantly coloured Nudibranchs, and so much more! The marine flora is also colourful and thriving in these waters, which are the foundation of why there are so many species which inhabit these waters. The coral reefs are made up of Hard Corals, Soft Corals, Anemones, colourful Sea Sponges, Anemones, Sea Fans and more.
