Time for a boat dive! The wall here continues from 10 to about 40 meters. Klaus H. (#108569) Andrea II (22) (★4.3) An easily accessible shore dive location with areas of shade and parking not far from the entry point. This is a large dive site so it never feels crowded here. Aqualung Andrea I (23) (★4.3) Just down the beach from its sister site, the Andrea II, the Andrea I is most well known for its beautiful coral formations from the plate coral that call this reef home. Easily accessible from shore, this is a shallow reef dive and great for snorkeling and beginning divers. Scuba School Bonaire, 0000CN Kralendijk Bonaire White Slave (★4.0) Named for the old slave huts located here. Easiest entry is from near the second hut. Cross a long sand bank to reach the coral area. Look for eagle rays in the shallows. Scubaçao, Willemstad Playa Jeremi (★4.4) Playa Jeremi is a small beach sandwiched between two mighty cliffs. The cove is a sandy plateau which slowly changes into a beautiful coral garden. Divers should swim out until just before the blue line. The reef is a slope that you can follow in a northerly or southerly direction. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Watamula (★4.6) The best dive site on the west side of Curaçao, only accessible by boat. At both sides of the gorgeous hard coral reef are two sandy patches filled with large soft corals. The massive hard coral reef starts at 5m / 15ft and gently drops to 20 m/70 ft where it becomes a sandy bottom. Mares La Jolla Canyon (★4.0) Kelp beds on the outer edges of the slope are popular fishing spots and great for observing seals, dolphins, birds and fish. Beyond the slope the bottom takes a sudden and 500-foot (150 m)-deep plunge into the La Jolla Canyon. The canyon reaches depths of 600 feet (180 m) within the park. Sarah S. (#4020708) Molasses Reef (★4.3) Molasses Reef is one of the most popular dive areas in the Florida Keys. There are 30-33 specific dive sites located on Molasses Reef alone. The reef is shallow and very clear with lots of life, making it a great area for divers of all levels and snorkelers as well. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic La Baleine (★4.5) The visibility of its crystal clear waters, the richness of its biodiversity and its diversified relief make the Cape of the Whale one of the most beautiful sites of the South Caribbean. A nice drop off slides down to 25m. Cape of the Whale is favourable for drifting, starting in particular from Three Airs Cove. Kay H. (#2592226) Punta Perdiz (★4.4) Located in the area called “Bay of Pigs,” Punta Perdiz is a very popular dive destination due to its conditions: easy diving and little current. This dive site is suitable both for beginners and expert divers. More advanced divers can slip over the wall that is accessible during the dive. Aqualung Paradise Reef (★4.5) This beautiful shallow reef site has lots of hard and soft corals, schooling horse eye jacks, turtles or a sleeping nurse shark nestled among the reef. Aqua Marine, 00802 St Thomas Cow Rock (★4.5) Cow rock is one of the most recognized dive sites in St. Thomas. Small caves/swim throughs and beautiful elkhorn corals are the dominant features. It is definitely a favorite! Aqua Marine, 00802 St Thomas Stragglers' Reef (★4.4) Nicely protected on the lee side of Great St James, Stragglers is the perfect option on a rough, stormy day! The dive starts in a small, but very pretty, system of canyons where you can find great photo opportunities. There is also a beautiful reef wall section teeming with life. Aqua Marine, 00802 St Thomas Ledges of Little St. James (★4.5) This is a fairly easy dive made up of ledges and overhangs from Little St James Island that are teeming with coral. This site can also be a good snorkel and night dive opportunity with an average depth of 20-40 feet! Scubapro Edmonds Underwater Park (★3.9) Edmonds Underwater Park is a marine protected area in Washington’s Puget Sound area of the Salish Sea. Established in 1970, the site has since been designated as a no-take zone by the Washington State DFW. With over 25,000 visits from scuba divers, it’s one of the most popular dive destinations in the PNW. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Playa Kalki / Alice in Wonderland (★4.4) Playa Kalki with the dive site “Alice in Wonderland“ is the most north-western dive site which is possible from shore. A beautiful reef runs parallel to the beach with large coral formations. The best diving depth is between 5-20m.Parking, restaurant, toilets and diving school are on site. Mares Barracuda Shoals (★4.5) A great, easy dive in super clear water; perfect for beginning divers and snorkelers. This site is located in the Exumas not far from George Town and is named for the abundance of barracuda found here. Mares Palace Reef (★4.6) Cozumel Palace Hotel is an all inclusive five star hotel, from where you have access to the Palace Reef. Discover the depths of the surrounding waters of Cozumel and stunning marine flora and fauna on this reef. Mares Black Forest - Grand Cayman (★4.5) Perched on the edge of the drop off are massive coral heads, with sloping sandy bottom to the drop off. Big canyon ways to swim around and explore. Neil D. (#3039000) Frederiksted Pier (★4.5) One of the top macro dives anywhere! Scattered ruins and columns are coral encrusted and provide habitat for many types of shallow sea life. The pier is 1526ft/465m long so lots to discover with a gradual westerly decline. Perfect for snorkeling & non-certified divers too. Sandra S. (#3809867) Playa del Carmen (★4.3) Turtles site nearby Playa del Carmen, Biosphere protected animal sea area. Plenty of doris, emperors, clownfish, lobster, coral reef, seabass, pufferfish. Mares Veronica L Wreck (★4.6) Originally sank accidentally in the early 1980s it was lifted and moved in 2006 to make way for the Cruise dock and so this 100ft / 30 mtr wreck now lies in 45 ft / 15 mtrs of water outside St Georges harbour. Covered in marine life with schools of chromis over the wreck she is a fantastic dive, day or night. Mares, Janez Kranjc Northern Exposure (★4.5) Northernmost site on “Bass Reef“ fingers of coral go out below 80 ft / 25 mtrs and the top at only 25 ft / 8 mtrs mean there are plenty of opportunities for exploration. Aqualung Long Caye Aquarium (★4.6) This is a great little wall dive with the reef starting in just 20 feet of water (good for snorkelers) but then drops off into hundreds of feet deep. The visibility is great, and there is much to see! Scubapro, Stephen Frink Hale O Honu (★4.6) Hale O Honu is Hawaiian for “House of Turtle” and for good reason. You’ll see lots of turtles here! This is a great, easy boat dive fun for beginners and advanced divers alike. Mares Sheraton Caverns (★4.6) Don’t forget your camera on this dive! Not only is the underwater scenery spectacular, but chances for whale and dolphin sightings on the boat ride out is also high. Sheraton Caverns is located just off Poipu Beach and is relatively untroubled by harsh ocean swells. Aqua Marine, 00802 St Thomas Cartanza Wreck (★4.5) Beginner wreck dive where divers will see a small shipwreck of the Cartanza, which is broken into three pieces. Max depth on the wreck is 41 feet, with option to explore deeper reef extending to 60 feet. Many divers and snorkelers enjoy shipwreck cove as it is protected from wind, and there are many moorings. Mares, Janez Kranjc Prince Albert, wreck (★4.3) Along the south shore of Roatan lies the wreck of the Prince Albert. The wreck sits upright and intact in 65 feet of water in a sand channel between the lagoon and the outer reef, not far from the mangroves. Mangroves act as nurseries for juvenile fish and Prince Albert’s proximity to them has contributed to th Richard B. (#3927276) Toffee Canyons (★4.5) Toffee Canyons is a great dive site just off Ambergris Caye. This is a fairly shallow site great for newer divers and snorkelers. Healthy reef system with lots of marine life to see. Mares Hol Chan Marine Reserve (★4.5) Hol Chan is THE most popular dive area in Belize if not all of the Caribbean. This Marine Park sits just offshore from Ambergris Caye and boasts great visibility, beautiful coral formations, and TONS of marine life. Mares, Janez Kranjc Rojo Reef (★4.4) Rojo Reef is one of Oahu’s healthiest reefs located on the south side of the island. This is an easy, pleasant dive as it is deep enough that ocean swell does not affect the bottom and, therefore visibility is good. Nerea M. (#4242665) Monkey Head (★4.2) Monkey head is a 15 minute boat ride from Playas del Coco. The dive site is part of a pinnacle that above water represents a monkey head, hence its name. Under water it is one of our favourite dive sites. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Cozumel (★4.5) Cozumel is one of the most popular dive destinations in the world and caters to divers with many diver-specific hotels year-round. Sitting just off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel boasts crystal clear, warm waters every day of the year and is home to a wide array of marine life. Scubapro River Taw Wreck, Saint Kitts (★4.4) Large freighter which was rated by Skin Diver Magazine as being in the top 20 in the Caribbean. The 144 foot ship sank in a storm in 1985, and then, four years later, the sunken ship was broken in half during Hurricane Hugo. Max depth around 14 m / 40 feet. Nearby, there’s a van and virtually intact bulldozer. Joshua J. (#1836373) Maui (★4.2) The island of Maui offers excellent diving opportunities, mostly on the north and western side of the island where the water is calmer. Maui’s neighbors, Lanai and Molokai also offer pristine, excellent diving. OCEAN SPORTS, 00979 CAROLINA Escambrón (★3.8) This is a shallow shore dive, no more than 30 feet of depth with a sandy/rocky bottom, not a lot of coral but plenty of diver friendly marine life. Visibility ranges between 10 to 30 feet. The site is ideal for check -out dives, training, or a long pleasure dive if you don’t want to travel far from San Juan. Mares, Janez Kranjc Horseshoe Reef - Hawaii (★4.4) Horseshoe Reef is one of the most popular dive sites in the Hawaiian islands. Located just off the south coast of Oahu this area usually has a lot of boat traffic and is, therefore, best done as a boat dive. Aqualung Stetson Bank, Flower Gardens (★4.4) Stetson Bank, located at the westernmost end of the sanctuary, is an oblong, mid-shelf bank made of uplifted siltstone and claystone. It was added to the sanctuary when Congress reauthorized the National Marine Sanctuaries Act in 1996. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Paradise Reef - Cozumel (★4.5) One of the most popular dive sites in Cozumel, Paradise Reef is actually three separate patch reefs running parallel to shore and is accessible by both shore and boat. This is one of the few good shore-accessible dive sites on the island. Max depth is 45 feet so this is a good site for beginners and snorkelers. OCEAN SPORTS, 00979 CAROLINA Crashboat Wall and Anchor (★4.4) This site is the remnant of an old pier. It is a shallow site, no more than 30-35 feet of depth with a sandy bottom. The wreckage on the bottom provides an artificial reef for a large variety of marine life. Visibility ranges between 10 feet (if it has been raining) to over 50 or 60 feet. Mares, Janez Kranjc Front Porche (31) (★4.1) Front Porche is a shore accessible dive site not well known for its outstanding reef, but for its scraps. The site is littered with steel pipes, wreck parts, and old machinery. This interesting mix of artificial reef attracts a wide array of marine life. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Mission Bay (★3.1) Mission Bay is not the most desirable dive spot but is a great back-up location, especially for open water classes, for when the ocean swell is too high for diving. The bay is protected so the water is always calm but visibility is not great and there is not too much to see. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Tugboat (★4.2) Tugboat is Curacao’s most famous dive and snorkel spot due to its shallow depth. It was wrecked just off the shore of Caracasbaai and sits in only 15 feet of water. The tugboat is crawling with marine life and is now covered in sponges and coral growth. Scubaçao, Willemstad Marie Pampoen (★4.2) A calm, easy shore dive where you enter the water from a small harbor. 20-30 meters out from the harbor you will find an interesting artificial reef made from dumped cars, cranes, and more scraps. Sometimes large tarpon hang around here. Channel Islands Scuba, 91360 Thousand Oaks Salt Pier (49) (★4.5) Active pier for loading salt from the salt works on the island of Bonaire. It can only be dived when no ship is moored, and no maintenance is being performed. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Turtle Pinnacle (★4.4) Turtle Pinnacle is located just offshore on the northern part of the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii and is one of the best dive sites in all of the Hawaiian islands for its turtle cleaning station. Here, surgeonfish clean the turtles attracting lots of other marine life as well. PPK PLONGEE GUADELOUPE, 97125 BOUILLANTE Pointe Lézarde (★4.3) Last dive site of the National Park towards the south of Bouillante. This site consists of a rocky ridge, which will allow you to navigate between small rocky peaks and also down to 40 m. Most of the diving is done between 15 and 25 meters for beauty and visibility. Aqualung Cedar Pass (★4.5) Paseo del Cedral is a favorite Cozumel site among photographers due to the landscape that is covered in tight little coves and crevices for schools of fish to hide. This is a shallow dive with a max depth of 60 feet and great for beginning divers. Mares, Janez Kranjc Ginger Steps (★4.5) Named due to the step like formation of the site Ginger Steps is open to snorkelers and divers of all levels (ranging from 20 - 95 feet/3- 30m). Reef fish can be found schooling at every level, look for sharks at the drop off and lobsters hiding in the giant mushroom shaped coral structures. Aqualung La Jolla Shores (★4.0) La Jolla Shores is the most popular dive site in San Diego county. Accessible from Kellogg Park, “The Shores“ is an easy beach entry unless the surf is high, then only those experienced in high surf entries should dive. 12...6→
