Strong current. Mares Captain Don’s Reef (K) (★4.5) This reef is named after Don Steward, one of the diving pioneers on Bonaire. It is a beautiful reef with all kinds of small plateaus if you dive down the rig for a long time. Mares, Janez Kranjc Hamm (★4.3) This small patch reef is surprisingly packed full of life. In addition to huge schools of tropical fish, you will find sharks, eels, lobsters, crabs and more under the ledges on the outskirts of the reef. Dive with Purpose Cozumel, 77675 Cozumel Las Palmas Reef (★4.4) As the shelf of Dzul Ha drops off, a gently sloping wall with sandy patches and scattered coral balls offers great night dives and plenty of marine life. This dive starts at the Money bar and can end 700 meters further North at the Presidente Intercontinental hotel. BUBBLE SHOP, 97150 Saint-Martin HMS Proselyte (★4.4) Proselyte Reef, just outside Philipsburg, is the signature dive site within the Man of War Shoal Marine Protected Area. Site is named after the H.M.S. Proselyte that struck the shallow area in September 1801. BUBBLE SHOP, 97150 Saint-Martin The Bridge (★4.5) The Bridge is a site near the Dutch entrance to the Simpson Bay lagoon that hosts several yacht wrecks as well as the remains of an old bridge. The remains of the bridge have been completely taken over by sea life and this is what makes the dive worthwhile! BUBBLE SHOP, 97150 Saint-Martin Carib Cargo (Wreck) (★4.6) Wreck of the Carib Cargo / RoRo / Carib Ghost. Damaged by Hurricane Luis in 1995 the boat has been moored in front of Philipsburg for one year until Hurricane Bertha took it off it's mooring line in 1996. Found some time later, today, it is on of the best wreck dives on St Maarten. BUBBLE SHOP, 97150 Saint-Martin Teigland/ Cable Reef (★4.5) The Teigland is an old ship deliberately sunk here. First she sat on a ledge but then she rolled over and now is lying next to a beautiful reef at about 70 feet deep Mares Mike's Maze (★4.5) Mike’s Maze is one of the prettiest and shallowest sites within the Man of War Shoal Marine Protected Area. It starts at approximately 40 feet (12 m) and boasts healthy coral formations and numerous maze-like swim throughs. Rodney S. (#136650) Winch Hole (★4.4) The Winch Hole is a spectacular dive site that has high profile coral around a large pit. A massive winch it lies in the pit and makes for great photo opportunities. Scubapro Rube Allyn Reef (★4.1) This 35-foot barge was previously used in the reef program. It is made of 600 tons of concrete from the demolition of the Old Clearwater Pass Bridge, plus culvert and light poles. Many tall pyramid structures including “Twin Peaks” which is at about 80 ft. Scubapro Gregory (★4.4) A 33 m long transport barge, positioned upside down on 15 m of sandy bottom, south of Long Bay. The boat is located not far from a small drop off with turtles roaming it and shoals of sergeants major. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Infinity Bay House Reef (★4.4) Located just off West Bay, this site encompasses various dive sites, suited for beginners on the inner reef and snorkelers. A short distance away is the outer wall and greater depths. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Sara’s Smile (★4.3) Sara’s Smile is the house reef of Belmar Private Oceanfront Apartments, so if you dive from the shore you need permission. A nice reef and after the dive you will certainly emerge with a “smile“. Ocean Frontiers Ltd., KYI-1801 East End Babylon, Cayman (★4.5) Babylon features a towering pinnacle rising from over 100 feet/ 30 meters to 45 feet/ 15 meters, vibrant corals and sponges in a narrow passage, and a glowing shallow reef with coral fingers and open sand. Mares French Twist (★4.4) French Twist is one of many sites included in the French Reef Sanctuary Protected Area. It’s in the shallow part of the reef so depths range between 15ft and 30ft and has some excellent swim throughs. Mares Paradise - Dominican Republic (★3.9) Paradies Reef is just that, an underwater paradise and a must-see dive off the coast of Punta Cana. The reef sits in 26 feet to 105 feet of water so there is something for every level of diver. A great night dive location as well to see the Dinoflagellates glow in the water at night. Mares Anchor Point (★4.4) 20 min boat ride from Compass Point Dive Resort. Mooring ball situated on the wall with a pin depth of 58 ft / 17 m. Mild to moderate current is often observed at this dive site. It is accessible via a shore entry but local knowledge is advised. Mares Flower Garden (★4.4) The Flower Gardens sits right off West Palm Beach and has a shallow ledge that contains both an inside and outside drop. The outside ledge has several fingers and starts at 40 feet then slopes down to 70 feet. Aqualung Circle of Heroes Memorial (★3.9) The Circle of Heroes is an underwater military veterans memorial 10 miles off the coast of Dunedin Beach, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. It is the first underwater veterans memorial. It was dedicated on August 5, 2019, and currently has 12 6-foot tall statues at a depth of 40 feet underwater. Aqualung Hangover (★4.5) It is a chatty spot located in the pristine marine reserve. Swim through a maze of lava flows with small and large overhangs that give this spot its name. This spot is spectacular for all divers. Mares Man O War Shoal (★4.3) Just east of Diamond Rock, this similarly steep rock structure lies in the sandy bottom at 70 feet with twin peaks rising to 15-20 feet from the surface. A multi-level dive profile works best here by circumnavigating the base and slowly spiraling upwards between the two peaks in a figure eight fashion. Aqualung Seaquest Deep (★4.5) A popular dive site that is quick to get to. It is one of the more commonly dived sites in Roatan. Sandy bottoms and plenty of life makes it well worth a dive. Joep N. (#4775521) Los Islotes (★4.7) Once referred to as the ’aquarium of the world’ by Jacques Cousteau, diving in the waters surrounding La Paz, Mexico is just that: so full of diverse marine life it’s like diving in an aquarium. Los Islotes boasts great rock formations and tons of marine life but most divers come here for the sea lions. ZISSOU DIVERS, 48896 Zihuatanejo de Azueta Zacatoso (★4.6) A quiet, shallow site with a depth of 40 feet. Located opposite the hotel zone of Ixtapa, it has extensive coral coverage for divers who enjoy coral reefs, ending in a sandy platform where isolated coral hills can be found. Aqualung Smuggler’s Plane (★4.3) Smuggler’s Plane wreckage consisting of the wings and 2 engine cowlings in the middle of a shallow sandy/ sea grass bottom. There are no other underwater items of interest in the area, so don’t miss the directions on how to locate the wreck once you are underwater. Mares Grande Caye de Sainte-Luce (★4.7) Off the coast of Sainte-Luce, this site is remarkable for the diversity of its corals! 7-metre anchorage at plateau level allows all levels of divers to dive. Plateaus and drop-offs follow one another up to around 30 metres ... Mares, Janez Kranjc Santa Rosa Shallows (★4.5) Santa Rosa Shallows is the counterpart of the famous Santa Rosa Wall. The shallows are a great second dive after exploring the deeper wall. The reef here isn’t any deeper than 60 feet with a mild current; excellent for viewing the buzzing reef activity all along the patchy reef system. Buceando Mahahual, 77976 Mahahual Acuario (★4.6) Shallow easy reef dive site. Maximum depth 13m. Mixture of sandy areas and reef. Ideal for Basic Diver and Open Water courses, also excellent training dive site with a large sandy area by the boat moooring line. Scubapro Flamingo Bay (★4.7) Sheltered bay starting at 5mt / 15ft and slowly descending to 130ft / 40 mtr. Known as the “Critter Capital of the Caribbean“. Anything larger than 4“ is too big! Mares Deep Reef - Looe Key (★4.5) At 210 feet in length, the The Adolphus Busch Sr. stands upright and completely intact in just 110 feet of water. The ship that put Big Pine Key on the wreck diver’s map. This island freighter was purchased by the local dive community in 1998 with the generous assistance of Adolphus Busch IV. Mares Mary’s Place (★4.7) Mary’s Place is considered to be among the best dive sites on Roatan. Mary’s Place is full of coral and swim-throughs and is teeming with life which won’t disappoint any diver. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Purple Rain (★4.6) Named for the Ubiquitous Creole Wrasse found here that tend to swim down on the approach of divers looking like “Purple Rain“. Reef is a mix of hard and soft corals giving a mix of things to be found here on a gentle slope from 10 mtrs / 30 ft to 70 ft / 21 mtrs. Dive with Purpose Cozumel, 77675 Cozumel Tormentos Reef (★4.5) Punta Tormentos is a fringing reef which starts immediately after the end of Yucab. The ref is located 600 meters from a sandy cove at the shore in the south end of the w-shaped Punta Tormentos point. The dive is 650 meters (0.4 mi) long, and navigating 40 course after its end leads directly to the No-name reef. Dive with Purpose Cozumel, 77675 Cozumel Santa Rosa Wall (★4.6) Almost exactly in front of the Occidental Cozumel hotel, this wall offers divers breath-taking views of the abyss under the steep pdrop off as well as many pass-throughs between the deep blue and the safety of a relatively shallow shelf. A few adjacent shallower coral balls offer a suitable spot for a safety stop. Mares, Janez Kranjc Eagle Ray Pass (★4.6) Located on the north side of Grand Cayman, the top of the wall is about 55 feet with a shear drop below to the abyss below with chunky finger coral and sand stretching towards the barrier reef. Aqualung 1 / 4 Wreck (Stern Courier) (★4.8) This site is the stern section of the Courier wreck in 11 meters / 35 ft of water, resting upside down with the Engine block and hull plates scattered around when it rolled from the top of the reef after falling off a transport barge. Aqualung Windmill Shallows (★4.5) Continuation of the “Sherwood Forest“ ridge that starts at about 17 m / 50 ft and slopes to a max depth on the outside of 48 m / 150 ft. A large section of Sea plume Forests interspersed with hard coral sections are covered in gorgonians and the top has small sandy areas and underhangs for lobsters. Mares Tyrrel Bay (★4.6) Sank in 2018 is this 100ft / 30 mtr ex coastguard cutter. It has had engines and doors removed and is perfect for the wreck course or penetration / exploration by those certified. Just behind this wreck are the remains of a Concrete built Cuban fishing boat that is covered in corals and sponges. Mares Glovers Island (★4.7) Very shallow 6m / 20 ft, mainly sandy bottom. Very good area for Eagle and Stingrays with the elusive Trunkfish seen occasionally. If you look carefully you can see a scorpionfish or 2. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Lighthouse Reef - Grenada (★4.6) An exposed Patch reef with large rocks and overhangs which may be hiding large nurse Sharks. 45ft / 13 mtrs - 75 ft / 22 mtrs. Large seafans, otherwise mostly a hard coral reef. Mares Whibbles Reef (★4.4) This is a deep water reef with a mix of hard corals, large sea plumes, and larger sand patches / valleys. Top is 17 m / 50 ft and drops to 150 ft / 51 m. Due to the depth, lots of large pelagics are seen and if the current allows many smaller creatures too. Mares, Janez Kranjc Dragon Bay (★4.6) Dragon Bay has a mix of sand, seagrass, reef islands and a sloping reef. A gentle current, if any, gives you plenty of time to explore its shallow area. Aqualung Dr. Grooms Garden (★4.7) Shallow patch reef averaging 40 ft / 12 mtr. Covered in soft corals with a hard coral substrate and lots of holes. Generally mild current allowing lots of time to explore looking for small critters. Mares Quarantine Point (★4.7) Reef system with Tongue and bay type, top about 14 mtrs / 46 ft and bottom 75 ft / 22 mtrs. “Bays“ have sand, and flounders can be seen as well as Barracuda, drums and Scorpion fish. The “Tongues“ have Seaplumes and Porites corals growing and seem to be a favourite for Seahorses. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Spotters Reef (★4.7) So named for the chance of spotting some of our weirdest critters here like Frogfish, Seahorses, and Sharptail as well as Goldentail Morays. Scarlet ladies, Purple Crowned Seagoddess’ to also name a few more. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Valleys - Grenada (★4.7) Shallow 8 - 12 mtrs / 25 - 40 ft sand channels in the top of the reef extend seaward to the edge which drop to 60 ft / 18 mtrs. Creole wrasse school on the edge and critters abound in the shallows, one of the few places to find the occasional baby Nurse shark in the overhangs on the edge of the reef. Mares Flamingo Bay Wall (★4.8) Outside of Flamingo Bay is a wall 30ft / 10 mtr to 40 mtr / 130ft. Expect a current and a chance of large pelagics with many reef creatures on the edge / top of the reef. Aqualung Sherwood Forest (★4.6) Deepwater ridge outside “Bass Reef“ starts at 50 ft/ 17m and drops to 48 m/ 150 ft on the outside edge. Old Anchors can be seen sticking out of the reef from when the French had to cut the lines and run for Moliniere Point away from the English naval attack. Mares Spice Island Reef (★4.7) Start at a mooring 7 mtrs / 21 ft with a resident Octopus hiding in it. You can explore the large sand patch or head seaward passing over a forest of Sea plumes and sea rods then onto a hard reef slowly descending to the reef edge between 30 ft / 10 mtrs and 70 ft / 21 mtrs with large rocks scattered off the edge ←1...910
